Meaning do all Dark Blue mobs all give you the same amount of experience, or does the amount of experience given depend on the mob itself and not necessarily the conned color?

No. there are a unknown amount of factors that SoE uses to calculate xp per kill per mob. you can kill orcs that are DB in WC and get a different set of xp from the same kind of orc in EC.

zones have something to do with xp
mob type has to do with xp
special skills of the mob have modifiers for it
ect.

get the point. so no one can tell you exactly what gives an exact amount of xp as soe has never relased anything along those lines. they like to keep things secrit.

There have been changes over the years but my understanding of how it works now is this:

Exp gained is dependent on the level of the mob. Mobs can be dark blue and give different exp due to their different levels. By the time you see some turning light blue you have been getting poor exp from the dark blues for a while.

I believe that mobs of the same level give the same exp regardless of difficulty.

There are multipliers to reduce exp for light blue and increase for yellow and red. There is a limit however so that if you somehow killed a level 50 mob at level 10 you don't suddenly gain several levels.

According to a document I discovered long ago the amount of exp earned is split amongst the group in proportion to their level. This can work for or against you.

I've just come out of an LDoN where the 50 enchanter made 28% in a dungeon with a 55 cleric, 54 rogue and 52 Paladin. The Rogue made 11%. Much of the difference is due to the enchanter seeing mobs as yellow that were dark blue to the rogue.

I've also been "low man" in groups where my exp barely moved and everyone else was saying how great the exp was.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt it also depend on what race/class you are?

I know at one time Trolls and Iksar got xp penalties for regen, Barbarians and Ogres got xp penalties for their strength, while Halflings got xp bonus for their respective races.

Also some classes got xp penalties. Shaman and SK got penalties if I remember correctly, while Warriors and Rogues got bonuses.

You'd still have to take in experience modifiers like zone, number and levels of players in group.

I have a UI that shows my experience in percentages. It doesn't take long to figure out how much experience you're getting per mob in any given situation.

Agreed.

The question was about exp differing between mobs. There are also modifiers as you say for zone (ZEM) and group size.

On racial and class modifiers as I understand it they dropped the class modifier but Iksar still have a slight disadvantage (not 50% exp as I heard someone say) and Halflings get something like 10% advantage. I really don't know the situation on Trolls or if any other races get modifiers.
