Dracoid,

I know what your feeling and thinking. As I began to research and got towards the high end it was like gambling. The thrill of what if I beat the odds! I droped 4k in words one night to gamble. It was fun but took me three days to get over the plat loss!!!!

If you have no money in it then it doesn't hurt as bad. How bad do you want the ring? For me I bought the spells and gambled the words. I can remember my first try I closed my eyes to make the combine and prayed. I made it!!!! I was in heaven the next one I hosed and licked my wounds.

Well, one word of caution. It is kind of not an accepted practice to ask someone to combine something for you for sole purpose of selling that item. Most won't do it for you if you are up front about it or they will charge you a lot so it won't make sense for you to profit from the sales. I would keep it quiet if you really want it done or do it yourself.

I have been hunting in POV for the last week or so and now have gathered the materials to make one of these rings... I have 0 and want to wear 2..

My options as I see them are..

1) Sell the items in the bazaar for whatever I can and buy the completed rings.. Saw some this morning for as low as 6k..

2) Get someone with a high jewelery skill to make them for me..
But I heard that even if I find someone with a near max
skill, he/she still only has a 50/50 chance to be successful..
Is this correct??

How do I go about finding someone to make the ring for me
( if I decide I want to try option 2. )

What is the proper payment for his/her time? Hehe do I pay
less for a failure??

Thanks...

It's a tossup, more or less. It really depends on the prices in the bazaar, and your access to a jeweler with all the maxed out skills and gear.

On my server, the metallic liquids alone sell in the 4k range. Vallorium rings sell in the 9k range. With a chanter with maxed skill, and the +skill stuff (don't ask me what they are), you're gonna have about a 50/50 chance. In my case, I had enough components for 2 ring attempts. Since a member of my guild has all the maxed jewelcraft stuff, I had him make the attempts. I was taking the risk that I'd get two failures against the possiblity that I'd get two successes. In my case, I just got 1 ring. I could just as easily have sold the two metallic liquids, saved the cost of the other components, and just bought a ring with the money I made/didn't spend.

It's a wash really. If you want to guarantee you get a ring, you're probably better off just selling the liquid. If you're up for taking the risk, and you have someone to do the combine, then you can choose that route. Just be advised, if you only have one set of materials, and that combine fails, you've got nothing to show for it. If you'd sold the liquid, you'd be halfway towards getting a ring...

In my case, I didn't care that much. I only really *needed* one ring, so if I'd gotten two it would have just been a bonus.
