I am in the dreaded level 57 grind stage. The only thing that could be worse is 58 and 59 to come. LOL

Last night I headed to Dulak to help a level 65 Shammie friend out. Well not really help him just to have someplace to hang out. We were in the hidden cave off the dock where the luggalds are looking for flesh for a quest. I have been there at lower levels hunting quest items so I knew the experience would be null.

Spent about five hours there and here is what we ended the night with.......

2 Soulstrippers (Sells in the bazaar for 4500pp)
1 Belt *Forgot the name* (Sells in the bazaar for around 600pp)
1 Sword *Forgot the name* (Sells in the bazaar for around 800pp)
1 Eyepatch (Sells in the bazaar for around 150pp)
Gems *My cut* (Sold to merchants for 600pp) *Not sure what his cut was but probably more*
Trash Loot (Sold to merchants for 200pp)

11 Luggalf Flesh (Missing one for 4 ring quests)

1 full yellow experience at level 57 ***My prize was worth all that loot***

So if your looking for some decent drops with little headaches in the 55+ levels head over there it is well worth 5 hours to take hom 12k in loot.

I know that this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love this zone for all those reasons.

I personally love the LOY expansion. It seems to be a lost continent, I think mostly because it isn't easy access. But if you can invis and get deep enough there is some killer stuff in Dulak, Naddox and well I can only imagine the Mines and Fury. Besides the places just graphically are awesome. My first time entering Naddox scared me to death seeing the elemental guys and all the lava.

Bah. I'm wanting one of those Soulstrippers bad for my cleric. I've heard horror stories about camping that, and you got 3 of them? They're supposed to be a rare drop off a rare spawn.

Sometimes this game seems like it knows what you're camping for, and only drops it for people who don't specifically want it...

i leveled from 45 to 56 in nadox, then moved to PoV, LoY is great, but at 55/56+ the planes rule, in 2 hours in PoV i got 1AA and 2 bubs, 2 etheral parchments (lvl 61/62 spell quest for all classes), 4 bricks of valorium (250+ jewelery) and a metallic liquid (4000pp easy in bazaar).

I'm glad someone else finally said it. As a noob (which I think I still am since I don't get the opportunity to spend a lot of time playing), I played all 16 classes to get a feel for them all and see what I liked. Leveling at low levels is fairly quick so it wasn't a huge time inevstment. I played most of them at least long enough to do the noob armor quests and I must say that in many instances, whatever the character needed to drop almost NEVER dropped. The drop rates for the items needed to construct the noob armor, especially in comparison to how often the same items dropped for characters killing the same mobs in the same zones who DIDN'T need the drop, were often absolutely abysmal.

For example, my dark elf necromancer needed three deathfist scout scalps to complete her armor and I never, ever got one as a drop playing her. And she tried for HOURS. I sent my erudite shadow knight to Nektulos Forest and one dropped off the first deathfist scout I killed. (She got her other two by running around to every vendor in Neriak. Very annoying but MUCH quicker than trying to get them by killing the mob.) I also remember that spiderling legs were impossible to get to drop from the spiders in Everfrost when my barbarian rogue needed them for noob armor. SPIDERLING LEGS! I could probably think up at least a half a dozen similar examples.

I came away with the distinct impression that this was done just to make the quests last longer and make them harder to do. In my experience, this behavior of the drop rates was rampant and consistent. And, very, very annoying.

There is a place holder for the soulstripper once you drop the actual mob with the SS it will respawn 4 hours later but you have to keep removing the PH.

Enter into the cave work your way to the bridge. You can only go straight or take a right. Take a right and there will be two mobs guarding the entrance. Just past those two guards is a mob on the left alone against the wall. He is the PH and if he is the one with the SS he will be holding it.

I have been to Dulak caves three times when the caves were a challenge. 46+ the first we made it to the bridge before losing control. Second time we made it past the PH into the room and back out before wiping. The third time we got the SS and what I needed for my quest.

Last night we had a 65 Shammie, 59 Rogue, 57 Necro and 55 Monk. The Luggald Crawl was easy due to our levels. The caves aren't really there to level in they are to confined with to much agro. They are a place to get pieces to quests and to get some fine drops. We are at the level to get the drops with little to no risk. But honestly getting the SS is easier than anything in that cave. Once you get to the PH you can sit in that area and just keep things cleared they repop every 15 minutes. DB in that area to me at 57. If you want to get some XP then go straight instead of right and as you progress to the temple they get stronger. Last night some of the Luggalds were DB to the 65 Shammie but still easy kills.

I'm also glad to see that I'm not the only one affected by this phenomenon. Around the time I hit level 11, I gave up on my newbie necro armor quests because I was getting better gear using the money I got from selling the drops I couldn't use. I would think that quests for newbie gear would be somewhat more easily completed...like maybe completable before you don't need the gear anymore?

For Necro's there isn't a lot to choose from easily. I never bothered with the newbie quests because it was just as easy to save plat and buy better.

Unfortunately Necro's don't get many armor opportunities in the game. Druids can completely outfit themselves from drops in UP off Elysians. Necro's on the other hand only really have good armor if you look at the elemental and ornate quests. But those quests are not obtainable alone like Druids are and take many other resources than killing a mob. I wish EQ would come out with some alternatives for the casting classes.

Till then it is all about making plat and buying unless you have a good enough group/guild to go after something you want and/or need.

As a 65 Elder Druid I like to spend time, when I need some low-key Soloing, in Nadox. I Charm the Exhausted Bloodtusk (Level 59 Boar) and buff the **** out of him.
Then I go a slaytanic killing spree.
Across the bridge, middle tunnel, second room. All Dark Blue cons, most Level 57 to 59. Nothing summons. Most have cash loot ~ 5 to 9 pp each ~ and a couple of saleable items that drop. Most of all though is the gems, I mean a lot of gems.

With a single hit of KEI and Cha buff, I go a waste a couple of hours of very low stress playing time, collect 2000pp in gems and PP, a bag full of tribute bait and close to an entire AA.

On Rallos Zek, I usually see two or three other peeps the whole time I am there.

OH, and now there is the new Zone Experience Modifiers in effect….extra bonus if it app-lies to you.

Torgiran Mines have become my new favorite soloing zone. In the back, close to the Nadoz zone line, the mobs are nearly all Bloodguards which are dark blue to 65. I have a great cycle going that includes placeholders for several named (usually finish up right when the first mob respawns), the mobs don't hit very hard (i.e., I rarely have to heal), and I get about 1.5% AAXP per mob. I can go for several cycles without medding, and only really need to heal myself when Virtue runs out and I happen upon a lucky mob. And I'm really not that well equipped, the main thing I suppose are the 58 AAs that I have...I can definitely say it's quite fun to notice the huge difference in killing speed between no double-attack AAs and all 5 levels. Smiley: grin

Edit: oh yeah, money. Well, I usually get about 1k in drops by the time my bags are full, and I've gotten Worn Zraxthil Gauntlets and Etched Zxrathil Pauldrons to drop. (Yes, I know the Z word is spelled differently between the two, I don't know why that is.) Ended up turning in the first one for about twice the lowest price in the bazaar in Tribute, and the second one I'm still trying to sell, not sure what price will sell because I'm the only one that has one for sale. Probably a lot less than I have it listed for, but I don't mind only gradually dropping the price over time.

Game on,

soulstripper isnt that rare, i farmed it for a while and got no less than 12 strippers in about 2 weeks time, i soloed the guy from lvl 60ish and at the time he was pretty tough, but i never died and he dropped the stripper every time. boring camp tho and some times he took a few hours to spawn.

I went back last night for my last flesh. Strange the night before getting flesh was rare, last night it was abundant. The night before 2 Strippers poof! Last night a man had camped the SS all day and we were there for 5 PH and still no SS. Strange how it changes day to day. Maybe Tuesday night is SS night? Wednesday is Flesh night? LOL

Sheesh. About 8 months ago or so myself (pally) and a shammy camped the SS for 14 hours straight. Wanted one for my alt cleric. After 14 grueling hours without the enraged soulstealer ever spawning, he finally spawns....we kill him, and he drops some mage cloak. ARGH. So said ***** it, went and bought one for 6k in bazaar and will never go back to that camp.

In retrospect though we did get a ton of gem drops.
