hi all,
im sure this has been discussed to death but i cant search the forumn. i have just come back to EQ after spending some time away and i hear there have been some graphics changes. read something somewhere about new models and such for some mobs. only thing is...the only changes i have seen are in the sky (which frankly isnt THAT great) and an overall reduction in performance in high lag zones.
is there some setting somewhere that i have to make sure is on? as for thereductionin performace i am running a Geforce 4 Ti something 128mb with the latest drivers.i can run farcry with all the bells and whistles going so it should really be able to handle poor old eq.
anyways, any help be greatly appreciated.

You are 100% correct, they were talking about new graphic, Tunare 2.0, but only change as far I have seen is the sky + massive reduction of performance due to DX 9.

More than the Sky has changed though.
The weather, both looks and pattern and in many zones the scenery has really improved.
In many forrest zones for example, you get mist at dusk. When it rains it the clouds in as well. In some zones the trees and shrubery now have much more detail and great coloring. Many buildings now have much more refined texture.
Light and shade has improved very noticeably as well as things like smoke flowing up from the flames of torches etc.
I have also noticed a lot more sound efects, including mobs talking that never used to talk before (dunno how a new graphics engine achieves this
most likely to with dX 9 I guess).
PoK is certainly the pits and they need to do a lot of work on it and pretty soon, but many other zones are pretty neat now, even older ones like Butcherblock look surprisingly good.

It now rains in caves...three cheers for the new graphics engine
I also notice I can see the stars at night...even when it is RAINING!
Actually the new engine is remarkably better in raid situations. I can now raid with 50-60 people with all options on with minimal lag. Tremendous improvement.
