hey maybe i am wrong, im just working from my own experiance. as for gaining lvls and channeling skills between the times when my gear sucked and now, it states in my post that my casting skills have been maxed for a long time and thogh it doesnt say in my post, the only lvls ive gained between now and then are AAs

as for getting evidence to support my theories, frankily i dont care enough to spend the time doing that

one major difference between bard songs and caster spells: Brds do not have to be stationary to play new songs, casters have to be stationary for 2-3 seconds before beginning to cast a spell.

Sicksixseventy you are wrong. very very wrong, if you look at the discription for channeling focus it reads and i quote:

"This ability reduces the chances of your spells being interrupted"

I would say that just about clears it up.

*Edit just looked Channeling up in the PoP rulebook and it says

Channeling:Gives a chance to continue casting without being interrupted if you are hit while casting a spell.

Translation: You guys busted me on my poor understanding of game mechanics and now I'm crabby and embarassed, but I'm too big an ***-hat to admit I'm wrong.

This argument should be easily ended. Channeling prevents interrupts -- hence the aa ability "channeling focus" which increases the chance that you will continue to cast and successfully land your spell.

Dex helps you proc more if you have a proc on your weapon. What else it does am not sure, but for sure it does do that.

Yes, dex helps weapons proc more.

And, according to EQlive, dex also helps spells land for max more often.

According to EQ website (online manual)

Channeling: Give a chance to continue casting without being interrupted if you are hit while casting the spell.

and (also from their online manual)

Dexterity: Coordination; affects how much damage you deliver with a bow/thrown weapon, time between attacks, how fast you learn certain skills, and how often certain spells and weapons hit their mark. Also affects some skills and Bard songs.

Hope this helps.
