It is, when in bank with a character you got two "shared bank slots" to transfer items to your other characters, and you can put money in a shared account in the same window. This will not work with NO DROP / NO RENT items

You can put a lore item in the shared bank AND have one on your character.

I beg to differ. If you have one 'LORE' item in the shared bank slot you can obtain a second item in your inventory. However, you cannot 'pick up' the LORE item in the shared bank slot if you do have another one in inventory or your non-shared bank. Granted your ONE character cannot have more than one LORE item in possession, but your account could.

This does not apply to NO DROP or NO RENT items, since these items are not allowed in the shared slot.

The expanded bank and shared slots are reason alone to purchase the LoY expansion heh.

On a side note, it is unclear why NO RENT items should be excluded. For example, I can create several NO RENT 100% weight reduction bags with my shaman, drop them on the ground (since they are not NO DROP). Log off my shaman and log in with my monk and pick them up. You just run the risk of someone or some NPC picking them up before you can log the second character, but you can still pass no-rent items between characters on the same account.
