I seem to be mildly bugged, in that I am unable to port groups/raids into triggered events by talking to the porting NPC. Happened to me in two cases now (and in both cases making someone else leader and getting them to say the trigger phrase worked):
1) PoJ trials - the NPC ignores me when I say 'We are ready to begin' (or whatever the exact wording is (I forget right now), but the same wording as I use works if leadership is transferred)
2) PoN Hedge event - again, Thelin won't take us in in response to me, but transferring leadership works
Anyone else had similar problems? It is definately NOT that I am using the wrong triggering phrases.

Could it be that this problem is a result of charisma and/or faction? (Just guessing...)
I have had this issue also from time to time. One thing is make sure your not invised. A NPC will not respond to you if you are.
Complete stab in the dark here, but do you have the NPC targeted first?
The other thing I'd check is to make sure you didn't forget to put /say if you're filter is set to group.
