This may sound stupid, but here it goes:
Are there level caps based on the expansions you have or is 65 a universal cap and it doesn't matter which expansions you have any will let you get to 65? If that confused you, here is an example: If I have shadows of Luclin and the previous 2 expansions, will the game allow my character to get to level 65 or is there a cap before that because I only own up to Luclin? Would I need a certain expansion to allow my cap to be 65?

no the cap is 65 without any expansions, its just that they upped the lvl cap to 65 when they released an expansion

I can not imagine that you will reach 65 without at least most extensions.I started off like you, and playing without Planes of Power is next to impossible. That is where most groups are formed,the expension that speeds travelling up to a degree that you will not miss t for 65 lvls. I have been through things like: Ok lets meet in PoK... ehm I do not have the expansion. What? ehm ok cya around.
Or: Where can I get this and that spell Answer In the library in PoK... ehm Thank you.
And always the advise to get it, You can not imagine how annoying that is.
People who could see I am a newbie , and wanted to help, would not , because I would not have the one or other extension.
I promise you you will have all expansions by the time you rerached lvl 65.

While the necessity of PoP for travel might have been true before last week, Thata, everyone now has access to PoK since the patch about 2 weeks ago.
True, they don't have access to the Planes, but it does make travelling around the other areas of the land a lot easier.

I only bought EQ Trilogy cause I'm a poor ******* but I'll soon buy Shadows of Luclin for the bazaar. I just started playing a week ago so I guess I got lucky that they just gave us PoK to use.
