Just a quick thought. My monk always wanted a HP regen tunic but the prices were astronomical. I am wondering if the new changes to HP regen will bring the price of these items down or dare I say, make the effect obsolete?

What say you, the 'Bastions of Knowledge'? (New EQ expansion to be released in '07...)

Actaully, with the new HP-regen changes, Sony has made it more effective (not easier) to solo as a melee class. So items that help cut into the downtime between mobs will be even more valuable.

The only reason it's expsensive is because any regen type items are rare and most come of pretty high level mobs.

Sorry I do not follow the logic.

Let's say I have a Fungus Covered Scale Tunic with a +15 HP regen. Before this would have boosted my Iksar monk's +6 sitting regen to +21. Now to get to +21, I just have to sit continuously for TWO minutes. And it goes up from there the longer I sit. The extra +15 from the Tunic becomes negligible the longer I sit. Why would I want to spend 50Kpp on an effect I can get basically for free? I realize that not HAVING to sit to get the HP regen is a big plus, but the new HP regen protocol has got to lessen the overall desirability of an HP regen item.

Oh and I forgot, I can bandage to 70% now, (then Mend it to 95%).
Downtime even further reduced. So the big selling point of HP regen items now would only be for HP regen when standing (fighting, feigning), not to merely reduce downtime.

Or do I misunderstand the whole HP regen effect on the Tunic?

Sorry...

Just because something is rare does not make it desirable. Maybe in real life antique's markets a rare item fetches a high price because it is rare. There might be a few antiques in EQ, but I wouldn't pay big plat for them.

Or the fact that it comes off a high level mob.

Things are in DEMAND because they help you in some way. The more help, the more in DEMAND. Just so happens most desirable things come off high level mobs (duh).

Now the fact that something is common WILL make the price come down since if everyone has one, there is no DEMAND, no one will buy one regardless of the desirablility. (Can you say 'Mace of the Shadowed Soul'?)

This does not apply to consumables, since Spider Silk is indeed common but the price paid, can get relatively high, since a constant SUPPLY is needed.

Or do I misunderstand EQ Economics?

Edit. I should say that if an item is in DEMAND and it is rare, then you would expect the price to be high.

While I think the regen changes are GREAT, I have to qualify that with a little bit of Diabloesque rationale: I don't play any game to sit. The less I have to sit, the better, and if being able to obtain 15/tick standing regen means I sit less, then I will buy it.

Frankly, there are people with so much money in game that they are just looking for some item to spend plat on. There is no better tradable regen item in the game and as a result, it will always command a premium price.

Now that we have Asheron's Call-like health recovery, how long before mana regen is made to scale like this as well?

Wishfull thinking.

It's expensive because it's rare and useful as hell for twinking a melee. Tunic+chloro on a twink means not having to sit down till like level 20.

Now this is logic I understand...

So the feeling is, regardless of new HP regen protocols, ANY sitting is UNDESIRABLE and thus this rare and useful item will not get less expensive. QED.

I must have had severe patience to solo my untwinked monk using bandage and mend before now...

I, for one, put my Darkwater Pearl Ring up for sale the same night as the patch with the regen changes. Hasn't sold yet. And that's barely *any* regen, but its what I could afford.

I think Dothammer has reason, but time will tell.
