Enchanters don't get "Atone"

Their first mem-blur is Mem Blur at 16 which is described as "memory blur 10%".

You're right, enchanters don't get atone spell. I was referring to the line of spells rather than a specific one.

I started an enchanter after I'd already had a few characters, and was pretty set in my ways, and the first time I ever heard of a memory blur(or atone) type spell was when my friend(who happens to be a cleric), was telling me about the spell she had called atone. So the whole memory blur/atone line kind of got stuck in my head as atone, and I've always referred to them as such.Smiley: smile

Also it's so much easier and faster to type atone than it is to type memory blur.Smiley: wink2

And yes, I am a lazy enchanterSmiley: jester

Dracoid, people who gate during fights do get a bad rep, fact. Only when a fight is completely hopeless - i.e. tank, CC and healer all dead, might it be acceptable to gate.

I have know wimpy casters to gate out of a bad pull, and the rest of the group still survived - very embarrassing for the gater. If in doubt, fight to the death.

Gating makes you unreliable. I do not want to group with gating clerics or any other class for that matter.

The only times you should ever gate are when the main tank calls for evac/gate OR as he states the situation is beyond hope.

On many of my guilds raids things have looked beyond hope but our clerics have stayed. Our Rangers have tanked down mobs once all the plate tanks have died. Our chanters have mezzed adds and been healed by the Weaponsheilding and tanking rangers (I kid you not Smiley: wink).
Our guild in many cases has killed some things we should not have looking at how bad some things were during a raid. This is because our clerics and others classes do NOT gate but stand with us all and we all fought/died as a guild.

To be perfectly honest I don't understand how anyone has room to fight with Gate loaded. Someone who valued the spell that much that they had it permanently loaded would worry me.

This does mean that I've had some nasty moments when LD, Zone crash or internet loss left me stranded in a zone and I've had to get back in, DA, load gate and then wait for it to refresh while mobs beat on me. Success at this is less than total.

I remember a 2 group clr epic attempt in Chardok. Corbulo was there Smiley: smile

We killed the epic mob, the clr looted and then we tried to start makijg our way out. We had 2 well balanced groups with an evaccer in each. We cannot die! So we thought ....

Adds pop, an evaccer in my group goes ld ... the other evaccer (druid) in the other group dies from heal aggro. The one clr standing (Corbulo) is healing myself while I tank 3 or 4 sarnaks. People are dying all around us. We call evac/gate etc. People try, they all die! It is left with pretty much myself and Corbulo in the ugliest situation almost alone in Chardok with 10 or so sarnaks trying to kill us. Corbulo says 'running oom!'. I disced weaponshield and gated (situation hopeless). Corbulo died, only myself and one other survived from the mini raid Smiley: eek

The moral of this story is that Rangers should always have /weaponsheild up and always carry a thurg gate potion Smiley: smile I must have saved myself a hundred times with gate potions ....

people dont write lists about who they should and shouldnt group with because of what happened last time

I actually do have a list of people that I refuse to group with and there are a few reasons I'll put someone on that list.

1) Ditching a group. Mainly in LDoN, but if somebody goes AWOL you're in a bad place. This happened last night after a resisted sooth resulted in an overpull, somebody just packed their bags and left without a word.

2) Perma-AFK.

3) Complete and utter lunacy with an inability to learn how to play correctly.

When things start to go bad in a group and I have 4 mobs beating on me with no CC , the healer is OOM and I'm snared and can't pull the mobs to the zone... it's basically every man for himself at that point and if the somebody can get back enough mana to gate, then it's fine. Gating in the middle of a slight overpull with a strong chance of survival is a different story though. I need to be able to trust a healer and if they're gating at the first sign of trouble, that doesn't up my trust in them.

Ohh, yes they do. Not only that, they share the list with their friends.

I have been on many a 4 and 5 man LDoN where the group would absolutely not invite a player sitting there in front of us LFG.

And what is more when trying to help the group leader while recruiting for group say to me , "ah no, not him, that's an alt of xzy". So people even keep track of who your alts are.

As a cleric I do not have gate memed, but if I as a cleric get agro I shout for help and wait a bit to use the healing affect of DA . Once I got that off I run towards the MT ( or whoever might help) hoping he will get the agro off me. If all that does not help, to get support from the group I would find it justified to gate out.

May I suggest, to get a necro into your group. He can do a lot of things, though not as good as the specialized classes. A necro can mez, heal, nuke his dots are the best, pass mana to the cleric and if everything goes wrong he can FD and res the cleric so that he can res the rest.Again communication is important, let the necro know wich role he should pla. As you can see I play a necro now, though my cleric is still my main.
Good to know that people keep track of yuor alts, I will be less likely to let anyone know, just in case.

Have to agree with Pat and others about bad reputation - I also have been in LDON groups forming where one person will pipe up not to invite someone who just /ooc LFG as they had a very bad experience. In my experience, you generally progress along at a similar rate as other characters at your level and it is now fairly rare that I get in a pickup group where there is not at least one person I have grouped with before. I often get tells from those I have recently played with wanting to know if I am available even when I don't have LFG on.

As group leader, I have also had a number of occasions where the response from a tell asking if they wanted to join our group was " ... is XXXX or XXX in your group, if so forget it".

Actually had that happen onetime where the answer was yes, XXX was in the group - we eventually got 6 and headed off to BB LDON where XXX proceeded to break mezs, trip a trap, and then complained that the group sucked before dying and never came back even though we had 50 mins left on time. We finished in time but everyone said they would never play with XXX again.

As someone pointed out, if clc gates out and group survives somehow without them, it is going to be a very uncomfortable group going forward. Also, since my chanter dies often lately (did a POI pickup group for the first time this weekend was a real eye opener), I seem to be getting 96% rezs frequently these days - not sure that 4% lost exp is worth getting a rep.

Also, I don't have room to keep gate up in my spell line, so even when they call evac, I usually hang in there mezzing to give rest a chance since I likely would die before sitting and rememorizing and then casting gate.
