In my opinion enhanced regeneration is one of the most overrated racial features in the game, but others swear by it. I'm in a boredom slump so I've decided to create a shaman. While I doubt anyone can sway my desires of playing a froglok for the first time, how effective is ER over the course of a character's life, particularly a shaman or necro? Will it make a character significantly more or less powerful to be able to regenerate slightly faster? I figured with healing and regeneration spells the racial ability is kind of a moot point, but still worth looking into. Thanks

The bonus is much bigger 51+. This may not be important for most characters, but for shaman and necro it is very important because of their hp/mana conversion spells. The more regen the less you hp you lose when you convert. Of course you can live without it, but it helps no doubt about it.

Honestly, I have a 62 (almost 63!) Vah Shir Shaman, which I made because at that time there were almost none, and because they could see in the dark and weren't evil. You know, back when being Evil was a hardship. Also, I misread a patch message, or misunderstood it at the time. They stated that Trolls and Iksar would no longer gain extra benefit from AA health regens. This is because at first they got extra bonuses (Regular races got, say, +1 regen per rank in AA regen, Trolls and Iksar got +2 or whatever). I took this to mean that they didn't get AA regen at all, and we would all be equal someday.

So, I kinda wish I'd been a Troll. Not Iksar, as JBB is still a fun toy even in my 60s :). I also understand that Innoruuk Trolls can quest for a necklace with clicky snare. Snare using, extra regen Shaman sounds pretty fun to me. Course you have to be oogly, and I'm fuzzy cuddly sweet. Your choice, really.

All I can say as a Druid, is that even the better Necros I group with seem to go into a minor state of panic when I forget to refresh Regen. So HP regeneration must be of some sort of importance to them.

I guess the Shaman cast their own regen spells, although I've often thought that it would be a better distribution of mana for the Druid with not much to do to be regening the Shaman as well.

Bigger deal for necros than shamans.

For Necro, mana buffs essentially are just negative regen in exchange for increased mana regen. Since you can also slowly heal with health transfers HoT's, every bit of regen helps to not have your health plummet, especially once you start casting the high end versions of Lich/Demi Lich.

For shamans it helps, but at the upper end your super mana regen will mainly be Cannibilize (The AA) followed by a couple Torpor's/Quiescense's & Canni 4's every 3 minutes, so regen is not really a big help. AA Canni is 1900 damage/1200 mana gained, can be used every 3 minutes. Torpor/Quie are 1200 point HoT's for 200 mana, Canni 4 is 148 damage/82 mana. So you Hit CanniAA, Torporx2 and Canni4x3 for the extra 450 healed from Torpor's to gain back about 1045 mana every 3 minutes not counting what you med back while sitting as torpor heals you. 10-15 extra regen wouldn't hurt, but it's not as big a deal.
