Do I need...Follow

If I buy Everquest, do I need to enter a Credit Card # in order to create my account? I intend to pay for EQ with the 90 day subscription cards from the store.

The card does work no need for a credit card if you use this route. I did this on my second EQ account about a year ago and it worked perfectly.

But, if I just buy the Basic EQ game and what not and make an account with the CD Key (getting the free month of play time) do I need to put in a Credit Card number in order to activate my account?

The original (base EQ) does come with free 30 days, right?

No all you need to do is install the game and when you create your account it will have options how you wish to pay. There will be one for game card, click that and follow the directions, you will get the 30 days free pluss the card time. I have done this on two accounts and have never used a cc.

Okay, you guys are missing what I am saying. Okay, if I just buy the game (no card until the 30 days expires) Is there an option to use the 30 days it comes with any not put in any alternate way of billing or do I have to enter a cc # or card before I get the free 30 days?

You need to enter some form of billing to get the 30 free days. So you will need to purchase the game card at the same time.

Or another way of saying this. Until you show that you will pay for at least a month of EQ you will not get your free 30 days.
Open with a cc and take your 30 days then cancel with no charge. Or buy a game card get 30 free days then play with whatever amount of days your game card is worth.

Dont just buy the "basic game" at least buy EQ Evolutions with the expansions up to Planes of Power. YOu will be glad if you stick around.

I'm planning on buying EQ Trilogy at Compusa (if they have it, ther website says they do). I can't afford EQ Evolutions + game card.

To start with buying EQ Trilogy is ok for you to get a feel of the game and to see whether or not you will like it. I did the same thing when I started playing, but this was before they had EQ Evolutions, but I can tell you that after the second day I heard talk of the Nexus and that it was on the moon. Wow, I tohught you can go on a moon that's preety cool, well to find out you need Shadows of Luclin to go there. So needless to say I missed out on some content untill I could purchase the other expansions, now like many of us I have 2 accounts and have never looked back. I hope you find the game to be as enjoyable as I have, good luck.

Deffinetley, evolutions is much more worth it. In the meantime, do some research on what class/race you would like to play when you get the game. :), Hope this helps.

I don't know if you have GameStop by you, but they have EQ Evolutions for $30. If you're going to start playing EQ you might as well start with this. It has Original EQ plus ALL of the expansions up to and including Planes of Power. With the most recent patch, the Plane of Knowlege is accessible to everyone now (used to have to own Planes of Power to use this zone), so PoP isn't necessary for the low-level characters, except for the travel that it offers to noobs, since you'll be using the PoK Books about 90% of the time with the Luclin Spires being the other 10%.

But for $30 (or $25 where some of you have seen it) you get pretty much the whole game, including the Legacy of Ykesha expansion, which introduced the Froglok as a playable race, as well as some added bank features and an in-game map. The only other expansion you would need is LDoN, but not until one of your characters reaches level 20.

EQ Evolutions is the best package of EQ w/expansions for the new player. It gives the most options for the best price. You are essentially paying around $5 per expansion (including Original).
You should consider that a REALLY good price, seeing how all of the EQ veterans paid around $15-30 for EACH expansion when it was released.

Not a bad price for the best MMORPG. Figure it this way:
EQ Evolutions = $30 (rounding high)
EQ Game Card = $45 (3month)
Total = $75 <--- 4 months of EQ time with MOST of the available expansions from the get-go

Xorage - I will echo what everyone else is telling you. Save your money and get Evolutions. For a few dollars more you get several expansions you will pay much mroe for on a one to one basis.

And to answer your original question...if you do not have the game card you will need a credit card...even though they give you 30 days free. So game card or credit card to activate game.

I am currently using a card. They work just famously.
