Instead of using a loom, it would be better to buy a sewing kit.

If you have Maps look for a tailor in EC if not then just go into each of the building in west frreport and you will find a vendor selling one.

Sorry can't recall of the top of my head who sells them.

There's a public loom in E. Freeport unpsaits in the blue building, I believe. It's in the upstairs of one of the buildings in that row, anyway.

first of all telling them to buy a sewing kits is a waste of time, as a newbie there working on newbie armor. which means they have to have a loom, a sewing kit wont do.

Secondly, go to eqtraders.com they have a list of loom with city and /loc numbers which will help you find the closest too you

Sick, you might as well have told the player to go to the MOON!
Oh, wait... that's what you did do!

Seriously though, since the book in Freeport is hidden behind a wall it would be tough on a newbie to send them searching for it. Let's give him/her a few levels to get caught up.

Regarding newbie armor, they wouldn't need a sewing kit OR a loom for that as the GM who passes out the quest for your newbie armor also passes out the container to make it in. (as well as free molds, patterns or whetever, everything needed except for the ingredients

But, I think the OP was talking about smithing and/or tayloring beginning armor here...

No mention here of questing...

And for that a loom or sewing kit would be needed. But my recomendation would be to return to the GM and do the newbie armor quest instead of trying to learn to smith or taylor along side learning the basic game mechanics this early.

In addition, while running this quest, there will be ample opportunity to Ahem... *aquire* pieces of cloth and/or leather armor from the many hapless skellies who cross your path.

The great thing about the newbie armor quests are that they are basically a treasure hunt with class based stat building armor and a sword as the prizes! And, the pieces are all no-fail so you can't possibly do it wrong!

Let us know if you need a steer in the direction of starting / completing the newbie armor quest for your character...

Sorry Old Blue--for monk newbie quest armour, a loom or sewing kit is needed.

We combine ingredients in our chest, but then we have to take the pattern & the result of the combine to a loom--or sewing kit--to create armour.

So really, Tarv is absolutely correct, msmixedcutie could simply buy a sewing kit for the end product + the pattern.

Point taken and appologies to Tarv. I haven't run that quest since I haven't played a monk yet and so, shouldn't have spoken up without having all the facts.

Come to think of it, the Bard and Warrior quests also use the issued container only for the original combine with the final step in each case completed in a forge...

So I guess I was wrong at athe top of my lungs! I am humbled...

However, I still stand by the *feeling* that she's talking about creating basic armor as a taylor or smith and not the quest armor at all...

Now, if she'll post again with additional info, we can all be sure!

Ah! I see. I helped a bard buddy w/his quest & I think he had to use a forge--I think, it's been a while.

But, sirrah, me'thinks you may indeed be correct: this is a case of Wise Dragons & Foolish Monks. :)

Always a pleasure to read you posts OldBlue.

Just as a side note.
In your travels looking for a loom you will see two different graphics that look like looms, however, only one is.
The Loom has the pure white center, no fabric graphic on its center.
Looms should also be listed on your city map if you have the LOY expansion.
