Raising Pick Lock skill for Cloak of TruthFollow

I want to raise my pick lock skill on my bard but I don't want to spend all my training points on it. Is there some easy lock to pick I can practice on to raise my skill?

I'm also wondering what skill it takes to pick the lock on the door in Nathyn Illuminious' house in Katta Castellum because that's why I want to raise my skill and bards can only get to 100 Pick Lock. I was trying to do this Cloak of Truth quest on my wizard and I got stuck at that door
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=1495

I was thinking that was a great item, but now I think skills are limited to 252, so even if I get +5% meditation from the Cloak, since my Meditation is already 252, I won't get any benefit? If that's the case I'll just give the cloak to somebody else, but I want to finish the quest.

I tried to Shadow Step past that door with my wizard but I guess Sony anticipated that and I can't do it. Oh well. Apparently Shadow Step won't teleport you through an obstacle. Plan B is to bring on the bard to open the door.

I'm no expert, but I was asking around where I could raise my pick lock skill for my Rogue and it was suggested that I go to befallen and work on... something, I don't remember if there are locked doors or chests or what it was, but the person who suggested it said it would be a safe and easy way to raise it...I haven't went and tried it yet myself, but maybe check it out...

There are indeed locked doors in Befallen. One of them is really close to the zone. After you zone in, there's a room with 5 or 6 stairs going down to an area with some skeletons and I think 4 doors. I think it's the second door on the left that's locked.

I'm not really sure how lock picking works, like if there's a trivial point on that lock. If that's how it even works. It's probably a good place to get started though.

Go to Befallen, go down the first set of steps to the second door on the left as you enter. That will get you to 200...... Eventually.

I use it every 3 levels with my rogue so that i don't have to stay for to long, i have a hotkey doing Hide, Sneak, Sence Traps and Disarm traps so i get all of my skills working at once.

Lock-picking works the opposite way to other skills. You cannot pick a lock that is not trivial to you.

Get your lockpick on the mouse pointer and click on the door. Get a DEX buff first and keep doing it. (Bards may have a DEX song that would do). If the door is trivial to you (and Befallen is 11 so it will be) then you can skill up as far as your level, your class or your mental health will let you.

I doubt the door will stay open long enough for you to change characters so unless you are 2-boxing you are better off finding a friendly rogue and dropping them a few pp. At least your Wiz can port them there and save a lot of time.

Does the Plane of Tranq trick still work? I did that on my rogue a few months back.. stand on the table facing the door, and click towards the bottom.. you do not have to wait for a door to open and close.. fast as you can hit the key or mouse button :p

I understand that a good place to practise Lock Pick skill is on the bank in Freeport ... on the vault door! The door never opens (shame) and so can be done repeatedly.

The Befallen Door will get your skill to 200. To get it above 200 you need to go to Sol A or B, there's a block of stone that is a trap, but by using pick lock skill it locks in it place for a few seconds. My wife did this one to get her skill to 210. Not sure if it will go highter there or not. She has placed her Rogue in retirement mod while she plays her cleric. Hopefully I got this right, if not, don't burn me flmaes to bad.

The freeport bank door is 200 skill so cannot be practised on below that level. After that you can use it to skill up.

The Befallen door can be used to skill up to max. Doors do not have a limit. The trap in SolA can be used to train disarm traps but I haven't heard it could be used for lockpicking as well. In fact as I learned the other day you don't actually need a trap to train disarm. You will get skill ups if you keep trying even if no trap is near.
