I posted this on EQLive:
Starting last night this problem has started to occur consistantly, I logged in last night and noticed the texture of the graphics looked...darker? Yes, I have both DX9.0b and latest ATi drivers, in fact, I have played without problem for several weeks. (since the "Big Patch" that required DX9)
Now, after about two hours of play, my screen went blank but i could hear the game still playing. In fact I could hear the mobs beating the stuffing out of me. I did a "/q" to get out and re-booted my machine. There was an error message on my desktop which said I had a VPU recovery error before i re-booted.
After re-boot, I logged back into EQ and fifteen minutes latter, Blank screen again, this time it was the frogs of plain of storm that were reducing me to a red hobbit mark in the grass. I know, I could hear them. I did a complete cold-reboot this time, checked my DXDiag program, which I keep on my desktop these days, confirming that DX9.0b was loaded and my current ATI driver was working, I even ran the tests. I re-loaded my ATi driver anyhow, ran the DXDiag again, saw that all was good, loaded up EQ to do my third CR of the night, and crashed out 30 Seconds latter.
So, I ask you, What is going on? Why the sudden problems? Was there another change to the way the game interacts with Video Cards / DirectX? I read up on the problems with Raedon 7500s and the extra text to add to the INI file, Is that what I need to do? will it help? or am I barking up wrong tree?
Any of you help?
