theyre all pretty ,uch the same, although a PVP server might be hard to start on, and you might need to know the game a bit before moving to FV (roleplaying server), im on tarrew marr and its great Smiley: grin
#5REDACTED, Posted: Apr 27 2004 at 9:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So you suggest i start on tarrew marr?

Subscription to the game is about $13/mth. The cost of the game depends on what you get. The best deal is Evolutions which contains most of the expansions for about thirty-odd bucks.

There's a couple servers that are fairly new and so are considered "newbie" servers, just because people looking to start fresh often play on them and there's a larger population of low level characters than on most other servers. These are Stromm and Morden Rasp. Beyond that, aside from PvP servers or Fironia vie, they're all pretty much the same for a brand new player. You're going to find a top-heavy population and lots of twinked alts whether you play on Veeshan, Vazelle, Mith. Marr, Saryrn, Bristlebane, etc

Morden Rasp is basically a newbie server, it's also the newest server. That would probably be your best bet since there would be lots of people to group with that are your level.
Also, buy everquest evolutions, it's the original game plus 5 (?) or 4 expansions. That's all you will need to get started ad it'so nly like 29.99 or so. The suscription is either 9.99 or 12.99 a month I believe.
Good luck!

Whatever you want. There's people who say you shouldn't start with X class (usually bards and chanters), but I say try whatever sounds cool to you. If it sucks, try something else. If there's a particular class or race you have questions about, feel free to ask them.

Best race/class. Half-elf Paladin, and the name should be IluvMulamen.

Actually here's a thread that may give you better suggestions:

#16REDACTED, Posted: Apr 27 2004 at 9:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Thanks. I'm interested in like a mage or an enchanter type character no preference to the race.

As far as best race/class you really need to figure that out for yourself. If I were you I would go read a bunch of the class forums to decide what class you want to play. From there you can get an idea of what you want to do in eq.

As far as race, play whatever race you like, as the game progresses it becomes all about gear anyway, so any class will work well. If you do get evolutions, faction does not really matter on new world zones so you have places to go to level anywhere.

Myself I would be a halfing warrior.. biggest exp bonus in the game :P

By the way, Evolutions comes with Kunark, Velious, Luclin, Planes of Power and Legacy of Ykesha. If you like the game, you'll probably want to pick up Lost Dungeons of Norrath at some point. The latest expansion, Gates of Discord, can be safely ignored for quite some time since it's geared towards high level players and offers few benefits for low levels.

Mage is a pretty fun class, at least for the first 50-odd levels. I hear they have some various issues in the late stages, but I'll let someone else complain about them.

You get a variety of pets to do your dirty work for you, get to summon stuff (which is fun, if not always useful), cast some nice nukes, etc. I'd one of the biggest downsides is having to research spells later on (which is something of a pain).

I'd probably steer away from humans to start a mage with, but about any of the other classes should be fine. Even the Erudite night-blindness thing isn't a huge deal since you get spells to summon objects that give you infravision pretty early on.

I've never played a chanter past lvl 8, so I won't comment on it.

Hey Dave. I was a newbie not too long ago. All of my toons are on Fennin Ro which is a great server, but is not a newbie server by any stretch. For kicks and giggles, I just (as in last night) rolled a Wood Elf Ranger named Aerrow on Morden Rasp, just to see what the server was like. I am probably going to do the newbie armor quests and all that jazz, if I like the server, and when I need a break from the high level grind. He's only level 3 right now, and if you send me a tell in game (type /tell aerrow blah blah blah) I can try to answer any questions you might have and/or group with you.

This site, particularly the premium features, is an excellent resource and will significantly diminish wheel spinning and banging of heads against keyboards. If you go with Fennin Ro, the guys are below.

Welcome to EQ...you're in our world now! Mu Hu Hahahahahahaa!
