Last week, a friend quit the game (for now heh) and gave me a Phase Spider Carapace for my level 33 SK. Its a nice piece, but I am thinking about the future too, and whether I should trade it for an Architect's Bejeweled Chestplate. At the moment, the Architect's only gives me one higher AC than the Carapace, but this will change as I level. I know AC is important for a SK, but some of the other stats on the carapace are really nice too. What would you do?
id say the phase spider one
You're going to want to upgrade the PSC sooner or later. AC:28 just doesn't cut it for a tank class any longer. It's more than fine for your level, but it's not going to age well with your character, not matter what the stats are.

i'd say it depends on the rest of your equipment . the spider bp is good for now , and the architect's will have reduced stats for a long time so you may be better off to upgrade other pieces first
Trade for the architects BP. IF the ac is already higher, it also prolly has higher hp and mana the the phase-spider carapace. For tanks in the end 1ac=5-6hp approximately, and will serve you better than any other stat.
Plus the architect's BP will last you all the way into the 60's until you can get your hands on either some raid quality armor, or some ornate gear. The carapace will become obsolete in your 40's

Here's how I compute it.
Phase Spider Carapace : Weighted value now = 239
140 ac, 6 str, 2.5 Dex, 36 Sta, 21 Int, FR (1.5), DR (1), CR 2.5, MR 6.75, PR 2, HP 25.
Architects Chestplate : Weighted value now = 233
150 ac, 12 Sta, 15 int, HP 33, Mana 19, FR 2.5, PR 1.25
I think I'd do the trade - the items are almost equivalent at your level and the Chestplate will only get better as you gain levels.
