I've seen posts stating 3hp/tick or 15mana/tick.
My question is how many seconds is a tick?
Reading other posts and doing the math I would think a tick is 6 seconds.
Would this be correct?

A tick is six seconds, as you suspected. Visually, it's one rotation of the little class symbol dealie in your inventory screen
