when i log in i appear in pok like normal, but after about 5-25 seconds my game completely freezes up and i have to shut down my computer. does anyone know what is happening?!?!?
The zone is MAJORLY bugged. My PC locked up 3 times in 30 minutes last night in PoK.
The only suggestion I have for the moment is that if you keep your character in PoK at all, keep it away from the main bank. That's where all of my lock up problems have happened.
I'm moving my characters out of PoK for the meantime. Run for the closest stone and try to get out of the zone.

I had the same thing happen to me at random intervals while I'm in pok, sometimes its ok, sometimes its not..

The latest patch introduced a major memory leak as has been discussed on SOE's forums. Using EQPlayNice from http://teqim.sourceforge.net helps a bunch. I was having the exact same issue, tried EQPlayNice and can now play for hours with no problems.
I've froze up three times since the last patch (It'd never happened before) and every time it was in PoK, no problems leaving trader in bazaar overnight or all day though...
I'm not familiar with what EQplaynice is though, I tried the link, it doesn't work, I suppose I could google it though...I'd rather they just fix the "memory leak" or whatever cause of the freeze up be...

There's also another bug that causes both PC's and NPC's to "sink" down into the ground.
And mobs that are "half human size" or less, almost completely disappear underground in certain spots. You can't traget them, but they can still hit YOU.
