The rarest itemsFollow

The other day I ran into someone who had a manastone, and it got me thinking, how many of these are around? When I started playing just after Kunark came out, they had already stopped dropping (or so I was told). As far as I know they were, and probably still are among the rarest and most expensive items in game that you can purchase (I've heard PCs in the 400k-1mill range for them). Just curious what people think are the rarest and most expensive items in game, not counting time/ep gear. And if anyone has a manastone for sale for 100 or so pp, look me up :)

Btw, anyone know why they stopped dropping, what they dropped off of, and why they haven't been reintroduced (with all the other stuff around, figured it wouldn't be all that uber anymore)

The first thing that comes to mind is Ton Po's Bo Stick of Understanding(https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=586), which drops off of Trakanon. From what I've heard there *might* be 1-2 of these on some of the older servers, and that's a very slim chance. I saw one over a year ago in the Bazaar on Bertox for 500k, and haven't even heard of one being possessed since then, Staff of Flowing Water is better, but the Stick is probably just something of an EQ relic.

The Goblin Gazughi Ring(instant click invis vs. animals) isn't terribly hard to get, but they are fairly rare. I've gotten two to drop in what I'd guess is 50-60 Sarnak Couriers killed over the course of a month or so.

It's probably hard to find someone with one of the rings dropped by King Xorbb, just because the King is such a rare mob in a zone that is hardly populated except for the occasional person running through it.

I didn't even know that manastones still existed. =p

Edit: Just realized the Trakanon Stick drops in the casino now. I hate that thing.

The halfling mask that drops in Jagged Pine Forest is very rare. It's no-drop, but I know I camped it for over 2 weeks, killed the mob over 15 times (yeah, he's rare, and the mask is his rare) and still never got it. Similar experiences for everyone I know that's tried it. Also, the Fungus patch vest is pretty rare. It's like the fungi for BL's and vah shir (basically all/all, but BL's and Vah Shir can't wear the regular one). It's a pretty rare drop from a mob people don't camp often.

These happen to be very very rare and the typical asking price for them has been close to 1,000,000pp on Saryrn.

Other than artifact items from GM events, I'd have to guess the Staff of Forbidden Rites.

Doesn't drop anymore, and can't be recharged, but a few people are still hoarding them.

as for the half elf mask in jagged (it is half alf and not halfing) its not so rare, i camped it at lvl 50 and had trouble killing the mobs, i camped there for a few days but got sick. i went back at 65 and was able to clear the camp easily with DC. id heard that if you clear the camp he spawns more often. anyway after about half an hour he spawned and dropped the mask. my bard has it. see below =p

The Burnoose of the Half-Breed is a luck thing. I got one the week JPF went live, just by chance. Was running through, saw a named on track and killed him not even knowing what he was supposed to drop. Dropped the mask and *yoink* on my bard. On the other hand, I've heard of people camping him for weeks without a drop. I've been farming the potameid queen for the past week, trying to get the FT1 item for an alt and, each night, the same poor druid is there, killing poachers and trying to get a mask to drop for his rogue. Just because some schlub like me gets lucky on a spawn and drop doesn't make it common Smiley: grin

There's probably a number of old, old quest rewards that no one ever does and so are fairly rare. How many of those Groflah's swords and Freeport Militia Tunics do you suppose are still bouncing around?

Quite right. I doubt that there are too many pair of these floating around in the game nowGloves of Earthcrafting .

(Only happen to be thinking about these because I ran into ole priest Bjek on the weekend. Still a darn good reward even after all this time though.)

The only artifact I have is actually pretty common: delux sewing kits. Introduced so that tailors could do the Wu's tunic which IIRC requires 9 components. Now they are dropping in the casino so I guess I missed my chance to sell them for hordes of cash. Alas.

That's not an actual artifact.

There's an item tag, "Artifact", just like Lord, No Drop, etc. It means that the item is unique to the server (usually a reward from a GM event).

You were right, half elf mask. What can I say, it was late? Anyway, that mask is indeed rare. I was clearing the camp with my bard for 3-6 hours a day at one point. On the second day, a 65 Triton bard showed up and for the next week and a half, if I wasn't camping it, he was (except an hour or two every now and then). I personally killed Zed 21 times, and he killed him 30 times before I gave up. The mask DID drop ONCE in that week and a half period, but it was in one of those 2 hour lulls when someone else had it and told him it dropped. So, 1.5 weeks, over 50 kills and one drop... I'd have to say that's pretty rare. People do get lucky with him and get it in an hour, but that's the exception more then the rule.
