Best item you killed/quested for, solo.Follow

Just something that I was thinking about. I do not have toons all that high (monk just now is nearing 40), and I am doing mostly solo stuff other than LDoNs.

What was the best single item drop or quest that you did solo?

So rule out anything you needed a group to get and won a roll, or bought or was handed to you. It may have been luck or perserverence but essentially YOU DID IT! No buffs (other than self) or extra special equipment is a PLUS! Uber-ness of item is not necessary but SATISIFACTION is.

I'll go first.

My 18 Monk got a Goblin Gazughi Ring after killing the Sarnak Courier in Lake of Ill Omen. Got it after the 5th kill, and haven't seen one drop since (maybe 30 more kills with various toons.)

This item currently resides on my 34 Druid and is just a fabulous tool to have when there are aggressive animals about.
(Just try to med in Iceclad or Stonebrunt without Camo and Hide is a pain to stick sometimes.)

I actually got a bloodguard soul ring the first time I ever tried to solo a LDON adventure.

I failed miserably on the adventure, but the ring was a NICE consolation prizeSmiley: wink2

Ghoulbane for me, since all the components are no drop you have to quest the whole thing. I was very happy when I finally got it.

I'm so new to the game, I've probably sold/destroyed a "catch" of an item...oh well, live and learn. I can't wait until I can actually contribute something specific and meaningful to these discussions Smiley: lol

I wouldn't worry about it. I try my best not to contribute anything specific or meaningful to any of these discussions.Smiley: grin

First rule is, never be specific. If they can pin you down on something, then they've got you!Smiley: wink2

Best item I've ever gotten solo was the Officer's Cloak of Service. I had to make alts to do all the parts except the beastlord item and finished the quest at 51.

The best item I've had from a drop was Master Wu's Trance Stick in CoM but I couldn't use it. Made a nice 2kpp in the bazaar though.

I've also picked up several Oxidized Fine Plate Leggings from Captain Ostafars in Dulak. Again something I couldn't use and I still don't have the charm even after doing 6 levels and 11 AAs on his rotten tub.

The only item I have ever camped was the Shiny Brass Shield. I got it with my 11th or 12th season Ranger. I killed 3 orc trainer's before it dropped. I was pretty proud of myself at the time.

Interesting that you would mention that... as I've been thinking that with your self professed *fear of accronyms*, you would be the perfect person to compile a *definitive* listing...

Feeling up to the challange?

Well OldBlue...I wouldn't mind the intellectual challenge, but after work, kids, ballet (kids), baths (kids), Hubby, work, EQ, EQ, EQ, EQ, Mom and Dad, Grandma, Dog, Cat, Cat, Cat etc. etc...

I don't think I'd be able to find the time to even open Word, let alone type anything.

Of course, I could always blow off the chat/message boards and go MIA for awhile, but what fun would that be??

That's not to say that since you already posed the challenge, I wouldn't make the time anyway.

I HATE backing down from a challenge Smiley: tongue

Definately the Eyepatch of Plunder. I did the whole thing solo, except killing Lozidal. Somebody else was camping him, and let me have the piece I needed. :)

I quested the Soulfire paladin epic solo at 53 with no twinking gear. Then I got locked in with Brother Hayle and waited 2 hours for the petition to let me out to be denied and spent the next 4 hours sending tells to druids and wizards to port me the hell out. Did the entire quest in 6 hours and spent 6 more getting to know Brother Hayle a little better.

I got a Tiny Cloak of Darkest Night yesterday from the caller quest in Fungus Grove with my 54 (at the time). Any bard that likes to swarm kite can tell you how invaluable these things are. Also, I don't think there's any way I could've soloed this quest if I weren't a bard. I know my 57 ranger couldn't, because I tried killing Katcha with him the first time. Katcha complete heals, so he just couldn't kill him quick enough. Using a little bard ingenuity, and the help of a charmed mob that likes to stun...

Back when it would have counted, I tried and tried to get the Runed Oak Bow . I could never get Coloth down to less than 30% before have to tuck my tail between my legs and scramble for the NK zone.

We had some mighty archery duels though.

My experience is that it is not possible to get anything of use at your current level by soloing. The one exception to this was the Wakizashi of the Frozen Skies, which promptly had part of the quest disabled when a few started to hit EC.

Remember when Waks were selling for 3K?

Well, I wouldn't say anyone ONE item. For me it would be getting all the stuff for my Barb Zerk's Rabidwolf Armor. Though getting Axe of the Rabidwolf was an everloving pain in my ***. Spent three days lost in BB looking for the damned sternum. When I say lost, I mean lost. I had no fĂșcking clue how to get out! LMAO It was only by luck on the third day that I found a way out.

Now, it's just sitting in my bank. "After spending all that time, why?" you ask. The next day a friend gave me A Mithril Two-Handed Sword. He said, "If you were having that hard a time getting a weapon, you shoulda asked me. Here, take this."

I never laughed so hard in my life.

The question is a little restrictive since it almost impossible for some classes to solo anything dark blue past level 20.

The best item i have solo'd for =fabled Ghoulbane

Well yeah. Sorry if you can't solo your class, but so far I have Monk, SK, Shammy, Druid, Cleric, Enchanter, Bard past 20 and only the Cleric has trouble solo. Although, right now I am finding trouble with my 32 Shammy solo. The Druid makes it seem easy but the Shammy's DoTs are not quite up to snuff. If anyone has some pointers for solo shammy I'm all ears (so is my Troll)...

I realize these are some of the better solo characters so no flames please...

Rank (my toons) from best solo to worst:

1. Druid (Snare, Root, DoT, SoW, Port, Heals, DDs)

2. Monk (FD, Mend, Sneak, Lull)

3. Enchanter (Charm, Pet, Mez, Mana Buffs, Lull, NO HEALS)

4. Tie:
SK (FD, Lifetaps, pet)

Bard (Regen, Speed, Melee and Song damage, DoTs, Mez, Lull)

6. Shaman (SoW, DoTs, DDs, Heals, Mana Regen, Buffs)

7. Cleric (Solo against undead easier than other mobs. Fear, Root, Undead DoTs, DDs, weak melee)

Played a Zerker and Rogue as well, but both below 20. Found the Rogue to be at the low end for solo. Zerker seems a bit more self sufficiant than the Rogue.

First of all, the Soulfire isn't the paladin epic. It's one of many pieces along the way. I also find it hard to believe you could solo Sir Lucan with "no twinking gear" or even twinked at level 53. If you did, I would be very interested in hearing how you managed that, and with what gear.

As to getting locked in with Brother Hayle, that I can beleive.

Ghoulbane, hands down for Solo - this involved running around to a lot of zones and camping fairly tough mobs at the level I was at (think I died twice during the course of the quest) and actually got something useful out of it. Pally with spirit of Nife and Ghoulbane ruled Undead for quite a few levels.
