Kk, but only if I get to smack the goblins...you can terrorize the gnolls :)

When do you usually play (i.e. what time zone r u in)?

I'm central time and usually play in the evenings. Uh, make that evening into early morning...

I live, work and play in Los Angeles and since my job uses me from noon till 8PM, I'm a night owl... often up till 3 or 4 AM Pacific time. And,... since I'm still pretty new at this and the needle is buried OH SO VERY DEEP, I tend to play every night...

OK FINE!... you can smack the goblins... and I'll deal with the gnolls... but it is a lot of fun to kick gnoll butt! Besides, they HATE rangers...

My plan is to be online later tonight, so you just might see me there...I'll send you a tell. Not sure what my new toons name will be though, so I'll be sure to make a reference to Rhaiynebow in the tell :)

Oh, and Dan...I'll probably try out Tanare sometime over the weekend.

Play with you later !

Ugh, don't go to Morden Rasp.  You seem like an intelligent person so we could really use you on Tunare. That server has an abundance of toons and a severe lack of brains.

We seriously need good people there to help balance the intelligence to stupidity ratio.

OK... so let me see if I have this right... You want an intelligent player to come and invest time and energy on a server that is by your description filled with morons... and this is an attractive inducement because...

It's nice to be so in demand Smiley: grin

If I ever to create a toon on quellious, you'll be the first to know (okay, well second person since technically I'd be the first Smiley: laugh).

I know that servers have been a topic several times before, but if you want me to come over to quellious, you need to be very pursuasive. What are the pro's (besides the fact that you play on it) to going with quellious? Have you ever played on other servers? If so, which one(s)?

One more thing why do some people call it EverCrack?

Because there will come a time when you find yourself up playing EQ at 4:30 am when you have to work at 6.

Because you will get a free day where you have nothing to do and you will start playing in the morning, then snap back to reality 14 hours later with sweaty palms, a 5 o'clock shadow and a brewing tradeskill level of 215.

Because you will troll these boards all day while at work so you can talk everquest and see what spells you would get if you were a level 50 wizard..or maybe a mage... what spells do they get at 65?

Because you will hit ctrl + s after finishing a project at work so you can sit and med.

Because you will find yourself doing things in the thread titled "echos of eq in real life"

Because when the servers go down you will find yourself cursing at the computer.. "Come ON MAN! Just a little bit, just ONE little HIT MAN!"

Or simply, because it is addictive, and if you're not yet addicted then run for the hills...

Oh my god, now I can see clearly...
Yes... it is true... I am addicted! There are at least 5 of the things in Mulamens list that I am doing regularly!

Is it worth doing the Claw quest

The answer has to be "It depends".

The end reward is certainly not anything to get excited about and having a Sonic-wolf bane weapon is not that useful unless you will be fighting sonic wolves a lot.

However doing it as an expression of your Vah Shirness is certainly good in my book.

When you start it is about cloaks and upgrading from Recruit to Apprentice. You also need significant tradeskills or you will kick yourself. Farming the components needed for the claw combine and failing it is extremely frustrating. And tailoring (the TS allotted to the Khati Sha) is a pain to raise at low level. I was lucky enough to have the GoD expansion and popped over to Abysmal Sea to raise it to 54 at which point you have an excellent chance of succeeding in the combine.

I strongly ~ecommend visiting www.EQTraders.com to look at ways of raising your skill on the damaged hopperhide etc that you find on the thicket. The dilemma for young characters is whether to sacrifice the silks and hides they get in skilling or to sell them for significant money in the bazaar.

After the initial combine you have to start killing Sonic Wolf pups on the Moor. This is not really doable until you are around 12 ish. At least on MR we do not have people rigging the Holloshade War continually to farm Owlbears or Acrylia.

Ultimately it gets extremely difficult as it depends on rare drops from unlikely mobs. How far you take it is up to you. I would certainly want to go as far as the recruit claws.

My whole family of characters is centred on Shah Vahl and if we bump into you we may have a weapon or some armour for a young beastlord.

You have picked a hard place to start as there are no new-style ,"newbie armour" quests for the traditional classes - only Berserkers. I can recommend the Ghulam Armour quests and the hopper scale quests given out by the Tauruun (rogue) trainer in Shadeweaver. Also a must-do is the Whisperling Quest which starts in Shadeweaver and is doable at your level. A bit later do the quest for the Blessed Champions Cloak.
