Hi, just my 2 copper worth.

Been playing the game now for a few years. I've got 5 characters I play. Some I've even deleted in the past and tried again later.

Basically, the name of the game is adventuring. My highest level is 58, soon to be 59, because I've found a few folks I like to play with and we enjoy doing different things.

But back to the point. Go on your adventures. Do it solo or find a few friends (doesn't have to be a 6 person group), that may be interested in helping you. I've done quest for items that I can't use. Why? For the adventure!

I've looked up any and all quests I can find and see if I can do it, not by level of character, but by the fact that its something that can be done. I've done quests as a wood elf ranger that is only for dark elf shadowknights. In some cases, I could not finish the quest (having to go to Neriak is hard to do in level 40's) hehe, but in others I've completed it and destroyed the no drop item it produced.

I've taken it upon myself to go try and solo a named, just to see if I could do it. Most of the time I'm doing a corpse run, but it's very pleasing when you succeed!

Look at the name of the game, EverQUEST.

Think of your character in a sort of RL Fantasy. You as an adventurer, hear of a item through rumors in a tavern. Great riches to the one that brings the item in. You've never been there, don't know what to expect. So you pack you backback with rations and water. Bring along some arrows (if you use one), get spells memorized, etc and proceed to go on your adventure.

I did that once in Temorous Mountains. Had never ran up against the vampires before. Woo Hoo, I was a running my butt off! Yelling, to the guards "Help, Help"!. Thankfully the guards responded to my pleas and took care of them. Then knowing that I couldn't just wonder around without caution, I proceeded to do what I set out to do. After hours and hours in the zone, I did what I set out to do. Friends said I was crazy, but I had a fun filled day!

So make the game an adventure!

Once again thanks for all the advice. Some of you basically said stop your ******* and play the damn game. At first I was offended by this statement. Now I realize your actually 100% correct. I have changed my playing style in the past couple of days to not just grab the first group that I find, added speciffics to LFG, and to gear myself more twards what I want to do and not what everyone else is doing. I am in no way bragging that hey look at me, Im such a badass that I made it to 58 in three months. Actually it is quite the opposite. I did not want to lvl that fast but I took the first group available to me (ADHD kickin in I guess) and those groups happened to be geared twards gaining the most exp possible. So thanks again for the advice it did really help alot even if some of it was rude it was still accurate since you can't see the entire game as I wish to do without actually playing. I guess that in a perfect world I would have started playing this game years ago and would have gotten more of what I wanted out of it. This is why I was concidering switching to a different game, and still may switch to EQ2 when it comes out. I just want to go explore uncharted areas where no one has ever been to before and be the first one to see these places and make friends in the process.

Exp plat and uber gear are all fake, but the friendships are real
----cant remember who said this but would give the credit to them if I could....alas it is not mine---------------------------

Blackthame, I hear you on the College thing. I tried to go at 18, but have had to struggle with depression and addiction to pain pills, then Heroin. I'll be 24 in July and (hopefully) wading thru the kids come fall. Work sucks, I can't bear 40 hours a week of doing anything, at least I still have a few years left over to have fun new experiences.

Ahh, who am I kidding, I'll sit in front of the comp the whole time. As for the Original post. I am having the same problem. I want to be interested and play a lot, but I can't. I've been running around to other MMOs that are just "EQ with something else! And it doesn't work! *cough*HORIZONS*cough*" But I realized I'm just trying to get back to where I wasn't bored with everything. I thought about PvP servers, then I thought about me and me newbie quest armor against 3 twinks in planes gear... Or a bunch of nukers scouting out lone people to blast. I've played a lot of PK muds, and seen quite a bit of the nasty, jerky, griefer things that people can do just to be mean.

On the other hand, what do I have to lose?
