Problems when I use "Find"Follow

Okay, first let me just say that I know using "find" is rather lazy, but I fell off the edge of Kelethin so many times and was so bruised up after resurrection that I gave up and decided that until I was more comfortable with the game, I would just have to deal with the fact that I have absolutely no sense of direction.

My issue is this, when I use "find" the game lags so badly that I almost think that it's not worth using it. I have to click on it, get an idea of where I need to go, "end find", go as far as I can remember, click it again...and on and on and on and on...until I reach my destination.

Do you think that this is a PC problem on my end, or do you all have the same issue?

Never had that problem in any zone. Never used it in Kelethin, though.

It is damned lazy, I agree. Between track, maps and now find I am becoming the worst navigator ever.

IT's a pc problem or a connection problem. Turn your far clip plane (located in the options menu alt+o) down to like 10% and look towards the ground, not completely at the ground, but towards the ground until you stop lagging. If that doesn't work there are other ways of reducing lag...but if you're lagging in kelethin...

I'll try adjusting the far plane clip first. Thanks for the help !

Yes. I get awful lag when I use Find. To help:
1) Turn your far clip plane down by repeatedly pressing shift and the - key at the same time.
2) ALT and O and turn off the sound, and turn your density down or off as well (that's on the display tab at the bottom right hand corner).

I noticed the same problem recently. After starting a find, it's ok for a few seconds, but quickly starts lagging up my machine. However, when I start following the trail, the lag starts to fade.

The ammount of lag seems to be dependant on how long the glowing trail is. As I run along the trail, it disappears behind me and grows farther ahead of me keeping more or less the same length and the lag is minimal. If I cut a corner or take an alternate route, the trail gets longer and I get more lag.

My PC isn't top of the line anymore, but I'm still kinda surprised that this glowing trail thing is all it takes to bring my computer to its knees.

FWIW, I'm running an AMD 2100+, 1GB of RAM, and a Radeon 9700 pro.

Try pressing F9 to change the camera angle until it is directly over your character pointed down(you should be seeing the top of your character's head at this point).

This usually clears up 99% problems, and you'll still be able to see the little gold trail(hmmmm, why do I suddenly feel like a munchkin from wizard of oz? Follow the yellow brick road! Follow the yellow brick road!Smiley: clown) Once you get to your target npc and the trail disappears you should be able to switch back to your normal camera angle.
