High level progression without a high level guild.Follow

I am at a crossroads and wondering from the veterans here what your opinion is.

I belong to a fantastic guild, exceptional in so many ways. The however, is that I am ready to spend my time in the planes, I want to flag and I want to raid. My guild covers a large level fo players with a very casual relaxed atmosphere. Those qualities makes it exceptional but we lack the skill and experience in the areas I am wanting to explore.

Is there a way to explore the other levels without belonging to a group like that or is seriously looking at a raiding guild my only option?

It's hard to leave people behind that you grew your toon up with and those that are your friends. But just leveling and LDON's don't give me good exp. and I am just bored with what I am use to.

Your insight would be appreciated.

Couple of things you might do if you have a good group.

1 - Collect pieces from plane of disease for alt quest to C.O.D.
this will also yield stats on your charm and free aa.

2 - Hit the desert side of Plane of Storms and kill Diaku's. Collect the 4 different pieces for the alt Tactics quest (may also need to kill some giants for Wembly faction). Yields stats on charm and free aa.

3 - You can also begin collecting pieces while in Plane of Storms for your Bastion of Thunder flag. 1 group won't be able to collect all the pieces, but you can get close.

4 - Work on your tower key in Bastion of Thunder (never know, ya might need one).

5 - Complete trial of execution in POJ.

6 - Look out for any pickup raids for Xana, Maniacal Behemoth, Aerin Darr, etc. and JOIN them!

Many servers have evolved non-guild raiding organisations. These often have membership requirements and dkp systems like guilds but exist to give raid-oriented players a chance to do some serious raiding without leaving their current guild.

FV has the Planar Campaign Group, AB has SCARAB and I'm sure wherever you play there is a decent chance of such an organisation existing.

Alternatively if you have friends in a raid guild they may accept you as a guest. This will of course somewhat depend on your class and you would not expect to get the same considerations on back-flagging etc as a guildmember.

The danger with these is that often they engender disillusionment with your current guild and lead to people moving on. If you are raiding Sol Ro with the raidorg raiding something like Vindi with your own guild can feel a little tame.

On the other hand they can be very good research for taking your own guild there later. If your raid officer can go along and see how it is done you have a lot better chance of success when you take the guild there.

Found myself in a very similar situation. Take your time to research all the raiding guilds on your server and choose one that respects its members as individuals in much the same way as your current family guild.

Make sure they raid at the times when you play, check out their requirements, see how strict they are about raid attendance. Then get to know some of their members, do some LDoN with them.

Take your time, but make the move when you feel its right. You won't regret it. A whole new aspect of EQ will open up to you.

There are a couple of issues here. You've outgrown your guild (and yes, it sucks and it's hard to leave but trust me, this isn't going to get better). You want to move forward in the game and you have little to no guild support.

Probably the best way to go about this is to get to know some people in planar level guilds. You can usually meet them in LDoN groups. Get to know them, decide which guild you're most interested in, feel them out as to whether they're recruiting your class.

Getting flags in pickup raids or in one of the semi-organized groups mentioned above is actually pretty fun, if you have a sense of humor and high tolerance for chaos. It's also a pretty good way to meet people of like interests. I've gotten some alts flagged that way, and also by tapping contacts I have in guilds who are currently doing flag mobs.

Thanks for the information I have printed it out. I think what has me spoiled is a few ventures with some level 65 to places that just really take EQ to a different level. But without that level of people a normal group will not survive there.

Regardless the "out growing comment" is true. Toughest part is I am an officer and probably the key contact for the guild at this point. That makes it a tougher decision.

My server, the 7th Hammer, has recently formed the Coalition for Planar Progression. All of the EP guilds are flaming them constantly at this point. They have taken to calling them the CCCP. But at least they are getting flags to go to the EPs.

My two cents. I am in a very similar situation as you are. First, my guild is mostly east coast based and I am one of few who are on west coast. The raid time prevents me from participating in many of the raids. Even now, my guild is just in process of taking on Emporor Ssra so they have not progressed too far. However, I like my guild too much to leave it atm.

I am much further in progress then my guild because of a friend who is in elemental guild. He is in charge of back flagging for his guild. Often times, they won't get people to do back flagging so he does them at off hours with pick up raids. This works great for me since he always needs clerics and he always calls me first if I am on. This gives me opportunity to be in a nice family style guild yet keep up with PoP progression. I think there will be a limit though of how far I can get there. However, it's working for me so far.

I took some of the advise here and plunged into a different guild. I was able to find a guild that is similar to the family and casual atmosphere of my old guild. The new guild is organized to raid etc.

I am a bit low to really grab a lot of experience with this guild but just high enough to go on the raids. So I still have a ton of work to do on my own to level up.

They are not a hard core high end raiding guild but for my play style I believe they will be a good match for me, at least till I am ready for the next level if that ever comes.
