questions about Velium Fire Wedding RingsFollow

I bought a couple of these in Bazaar for an alt of mine and they are supposed to be +6ac and +65hp. I've been wearing them for a few weeks and when I looked at them the other day they had no stats at all. Every other one I looked at with the same name in Bazaar had the stats. I bought two more and they had stats. The ones I had with no stats look completely identical to the ones with stats and have exactly the same name.

My questions then are:

Why don't the two original ones I had have stats?
- If the jewelcrafter failed the combine, do they get a ring without stats and did I just buy failed rings?
- Is it some kind of bug? (I linked mine and my friend didn't see the stats either.) (I took mine off and my hps didn't change, but when I put on the ones I bought with stats, my hps went up.)
- Do these things wear out?

The ones with no stats were made with regular velium bars, and the ones with the stats were made with enchanted velium bars.

If you paid the same for the ones without stats as you did for the ones with stats, then I'd say you got ripped off.

They didn't enchant the velium before combining, which makes no sence since the trivial doesn't change. the only thing i can think is that they either forgot or are under lvl 44 and are a con artist.

you can make enchanted or non enchanted and the difference is purely the metal has to be enchanted by a enchanter of a sutible level.

When leveling skill i never enchanted the metal since i was selling it straight back to the vendor. i retospect i hear that they sell for more if you enchant them.

Agreed. Someone was scamming people by putting up non-enchanted stat jewelry (which is worthless aside from its merchant value). They assumed, rightfully, that someone would come along, run a search for "velium fire wedding rings" and buy what came up cheap without inspecting it first.

Maybe you can get some tribute out of it.

Used to. That was nerfed back when SOE was on its "No combine shall sell back for more than its components" crusade to stop macro'd tradeskill plat farming.

How long ago? I am pretty sure when I was skilling up my gnome enchanter in jewelry (2-3 months ago) the enchanted Jaded Electrum Bracelets sold for a few more gp than the plain ones. Both sold below cost of components, but it was worth it to me to enchant the bars first. (Gnome Enchanter selling to Gnome Clockworks with Amiable faction and Char>124) Considering I had collected much of the Jade from looting, even with failures I covered costs with a bit of profit.

ANYTIME you are buying jewelry, you must CHECK to make sure the stats are there. Both enchanted and plain have the same name, icon, weight, size etc., except the plain has no stats.

Ok, I think I mis-spoke a little then. It used to be that you could turn a slight profit by enchanting the metal before you made it into jewelry and sold it back. So pretend a gold opal pendant costs 40pp to make. If you enchanted it first, you could sell it back for 42pp, if you didn't, it'd sell for 35pp. I'm making up numbers, but that's the jist of it.

They changed it so the enchanted sell price was still under the component cost. Enchanter may still sell back for more than mundane, but it's now impossible to make a profit by selling back enchanted jewelry. You can still minimize losses that way though, it seems

Nope. No profit for using enchanted materials, but a slightly better price.

Not necessarily the truth. I have forgotten to enchant metal many times when making things for my alts. Just last week I made a pair of velium jasper for the wisdom for tradeskilling, transferred them over to my other character, and did about 50 combines before I even noticed. It's conceivable that somebody simply made them and transferred them over to their mule without double checking.

It's also possible that they had enchanted and unenchanted velium on their JC char, used the UI, and chose the unenchanted version accidentally - it's tough to see beyond the name of a jewelery piece unless you extend the UI. Most people aren't stupid enough to intentionally scam people on jewelcraft items. The market is tough enough without gaining a reputation for dishonesty.

I'd like to believe you but in a market where people sell ornate chain sleeves for 80k, hoping someone will think it's the same as an Ornate Chain Sleeve Pattern or a Fungal Flesh Tunic for 50k hoping someone will think it's a Fungi, it's hard to give folks the benefit of the doubt. With shared slots and throw-away trader mules, reputation isn't something you nreally need to worry about in the Bazaar these days.

I guess I can accept that. Placing my own personal habits and sense of honor ahead of reality is somewhat of a shortcoming of mine. I suppose I just try to hope that people will be as fair as I am, but I get proven wrong frequently. Ah well, human nature isn't the best, especially in an anonymous online game.

It's still a heluuva lot better than the old days of cancel and switch in EC tunnel. At least you only have yourself to blame if you fall for the bazaar scams.

Don't let me be wrong just because I'm a great person Smiley: wink

I'm basing my information off a bunch of reports from the EQTC forums. Was lots of bitter folks about the fact that they couldn't turn a merchant profit off jewelry any longer and even more other tradeskillers who've been getting offered 15pp for a 50pp piece of armor telling the jewelers to go soak their heads Smiley: lol
