I am a 34th wizard on tunare(don't think the server matters).. my evoc is about 170.. my conj and abj is bout 20-25 both.. i know that is low.. but do yall think i should start training in abj and conj? i dont really think divination matters since wizzys never get those.. thanx
All of your shields are Abj based and all of your vision, invis and detection spells are Div based.
I'm puzzled how you could get to 34 and still have 20 in Abjuration. Don't you ever buff yourself? Shielding, Steelskin, O'Keil's etc?
Divination is used for Invisibility (and all related spells). And detecting and disarming traps on items in LDoN.
A word of warning, your reputation will plummet if you are with a group going into a dungeon and in need of invisibility for the group and you stand there fizzling your spell for half an hour!

Agree with the poster above. You should try to maximize your skills as much as possible. You never know when you need to cast that one spell to save your *** and it fizzles on you. Isn't gate spell based on Alteration? You didn't say what your Alteration is but on a bad situation, last thing you want is to have your gate spell fizzle on you.
Good news is that you can cast low level spell on yourself, friend or even a corpse to get your skills up. It just takes time. I used this trick to get my divination up on my Cleric, just get a bunch of lowbie divination spell, cast them in a row until mana goes down, then med up and repeat. I am not sure if this still works but I used to work on Evocation and Alteration spells but casting on some low level spells on a PC corpse. You just casting until mana is out, med up and repeat. As for Abjuration, I guess the only way is to buff yourself, click it off then buff again.

Alteration: root (on yourself)

i dont but im sure alla does, and anyway hold down right click on your spells and it will tell you

Your pet heal is alteration. Use your lowest one.
Wizard Familiars are Conj and it is not at all unusual for wizard to fizzle entire mana bars on first getting one since they don't use Conj much.

When my toon is low level, until about 35 (180 skill mostly), I max all my magic skills each level or two (also swimming). After that, the ones I don't use as often I spend hours practicing. Get some form of clarity first, and keep it up. Have a special set of spells saved to practice.
At higher levels it becomes even harder to keep the less used skills up, but it is needed. I am not quite maxed though on some of them, just do not have the patience, but they are pretty high.
I figure I have cast True North a gazillion times (I am fairly confident where north lies now). I never get more than a couple of fizzles, which everyone gets sometimes. But I have seen so many fizzles in a row, that you know the skill is not practiced at all.
And I do almost all the practicing while fishing.

I set up a macro to help me train, I can't remember the exact syntax, its been a while since I set up a macro, but it is something like..
/cast 7
/pause X

X is variable based on the recast timer. It helps you watch TV and train at the same time though.

to get a little more out of your macro button an individual line could be:
/pause x, /cast [spell number]
where, as before, x is the needed delay to recast. For some reason the pause command, while it occurs after the cast, must be the first on the line, so put this pause on even the first of your five lines - it will place a delay after your first cast.

I see, I always heard you could get 2 commands on 1 line but I never got it to work. I think I had even tried.
