Levelling up an EnchFollow

#1 Apr 20 2004 at 2:50 PM Rating: Decent
Ok I am looking for some advice here on how to level up an enchanter quickly. I have a 52 ench on Tribunal that Sony will not allow to transfer to FV (/cry) so I am looking for ways to level up a fresh new ench quickly.

I have at my diposal a 65 Paladin, 65 Cleric, 65 Necro, 43 shaman 44 monk. I can play 2 at once easily and 3 with some annoyance.

Discuss!

My suggestion:

Take your Shaman and/or Cleric - buff the hell out of the enchanter - kill red cons leaving the shaman there for heals and rebuffs.

Ideally, what you want to do is get to 43/44th level - then take the pally and tank green cons (prob red to the chanter).

Otherwise, just do what you did with your other characters. :)

Other character's arent casters though, casters are such a pain to level hehe.

When I was pl'ing Inconnu we melee'd him to mem blur levels and then I would tank mobs to 2% or so and then he would mem blur and nuke for the kill + xp.

Memblur is your friend till you can group with the pally Smiley: smile

Well, we all know Enchanter pets suck, but even a level 1 pet can hold VIRTUE!! Since you have access to a level 65 Cleric, use Virtue on the pet and Temp on the Chanter. You can fight Red cons and allow the pet to do all the work. The Chanter only needs do 1 point of damage to get full exp. Also, spells cast on the pet don't add aggro to the caster so you can Complete Heal the pet if needed(or whatever other heal spell you feel is best to use) and never gain aggro for the casting. Obviously heals on the Enchanter will cause aggro though.

You'll need to work your skills as best you can while you do this, I recommend sticking with DD and DoT's. Other spell skills are easy enough to raise later and you'll need your skills up to nail the reds with spells. Also only buy the spells that will help you level. Later on you can get the important spells you should have but missed.

I personally like Unrest to get to level 15ish, then Lake of Ill Omen to get from 15-30ish. Overthere is good after that then around 40 Dreadlands is good to hit 51.

Are you sure this still works? I tried to do this and when I did, the person I was PLing did not get any xp. I tried it several times and did not get any xp at all with Atone line of spells. Maybe Mem Blur line works better?

As for PLing a Chanter. I got my Chanter to level 24 quickly using my druid as an bot. Since you don't have druid, Cleric would be your next best be. I would get the pet out for the chanter, buff the pet with best Cleric buffs. Also buff the chanter, probably Temperance. Then you want to haste and Strength spell on your pet and youself. Get a good weapon. Get the cleric to pull a red-to-Chanter mob with Mark line of spell (reverse DS). When the mob comes towards you, cast slow on the mob. Also, cast choke line of spell on the mob as soon as you can. Melee the mob while the pet beats on it. When needed, heal with Cleric. When the mob's health is down low, use the Cleric to root the mob.

This may not be the fastest way to PL but it really gets your skills up quickly. You will be happy to see your offense, defense and other skills go up as soon as you ding. Good luck.

Yes Mark of the Righteous is your tool here. Use the cleric and buff the pet (and the enchanter). Don't bother slowing the mob as it inhibits the work of the DS. Pull with the cleric to avoid getting mobbed. Pulling with MoR works fine. Then low level DoT from enchanter to do some damage and let the mob beat itself to death against the pet. Your only limiter is enchanter mana but if you want them to get skill ups in defence etc then they can melee a bit as well.

This is even faster if you have an additional DS as well. Potions would work if your shaman is into that.

Ultimately you do get to a point where 34 point DS is slow to take down the mob but hopefully by then your enchanter can contribute off their own spells and perhaps use charm for a more powerful pet with the cleric backup in case of wearing off at a bad time.

Awesome thanks for the tips guys. Once the chanter pet is over lvl 10 I'm definatly going to try and get some fists of ixiblat to up its damage.

For the 20ish level was thinking of beating mobs down with the 45 monk then FD and let chanter finish.

Ideally I would like to find some lucky melee person or pet class and buff/heal them while they group with my chanty too 8)

Ah well I'm off to visit Tenebrous Moutains to beat some noob chanty gear out of those vile vampires!

Oh and as far as locations- I have a well established pattern for leveling my toons and my families characters.
1-10 noob zone doesnt really matter
10-20 Kurns
20-25 PC
25-30 Unrest
30-40 Kaesorea
40-50 City of Mist
50+ Planes or Kunark dungeons (sebi/Howling Stones)

With appropriate support I find this path to be VERY fast and amazing exp for the low level. All of those zones have amazing exp bonuses.

Last night we grouped 43 shaman 44 monk with 65 paladin and 65 necro (65 cleric out of group healing now & then) in Howling Stones. Made 73 kills/hour and both of the 40's made a full 5 bubbs of exp in that hour. It was FUN and great exp. I just LOVE those old kunark dungeons! We even get 4 drops from named in that time (bloodpoint, a Burnished Helm of Contemplation (ac 15 +5 wis +25 hp, a bracer, a nice ac 25 shield... pretty good stuff!)

Of course the monk is stuck in there till 50 now since I didn't realise that the OT hammer doesn't proc till 50 haha.
