How do you get to Goblin Island from East Freeport? (Or PoK, if possible?) Thanks

"Goblin Island"?

I'm guessing you mean one of the goblin inhabited islands in the Ocean of Tears. From E. Freeport, you go to the docks and pray to whatever power you hold dear that a gnome translocator is there. If there is, you tell him you need to travel to Ocean of Tears. If there isn't, you have to wait on the boat to come and take you.

Once in the Ocean of Tears, there's several islands that have goblins. Some have just goblins, some have goblins and mermaids, some have goblins and giants, etc. If there's a particular goal you're after, maybe we can pinpoint your travel destinations.

Sometimes the gnome is in Freeport, sometimes not. If you like, you can go through the PoK to butcherblock and go to the docks there. I have found the gnome TL to be there every time I go there. He ports you to Sister Island.

The island that always was known as goblin island in the OOT is straight accross from the dock. On sister Island there is a boat dock. Just jump off the dock and swim straight out from the island. The island is covered with gobbies and they run in crazy patterns all over it so you are only safe in a few places. Back when I faught there...literally years ago...hehe, I fought from the far side of the island. Was a curved beach area where they would not run to. You could med and heal there with some safety. Any place else on that island you will get jumped while medding.

Hi,
I seem to be missing a 'teleporter'. The only ones that I have met up with are the ones that ask me if I wish to travel to either Freeport, Ocean of Tears or Butcherblock. Haven't found one for Sister Island yet. What happens if you can't swim? (Besides drown.) Is there another way to the Goblin Island? Thanks again.

Sister Island is the destination you arrive at in OoT when you use the gnome.

Everyone can swim.. it'll just take you longer with a low skill.

Oh, sorry. Should have explained that better. Sister ISland is the destination in Ocean Of Tears. There is a TL there as well to send you back when you are done.

Ahhhhhhh........thank you, everyone! Think I shall practice my 'doggy paddling' before I enter the deep blue sea.

Once you are comfortable with "goblin island" swim a bit further out to "gargoyle island". Very rich pickings there.

Planning my trip.........can any of these creatures swim? Is there a welcoming committee in these waters that I should know about? Thank you.

I've been told, and read, that various sharks lurk in the OOT, but I've never encountered any on many a long swim. In fact I once took a necro halfway across the area at level 10 and suffered no aggression whatsoever.

As far as monsters swimming goes, I do believe the vast majority will chase you right out into the water. There are some old wives tales that if you can swim far enough out you won't be followed any further, but I have found no truth in them. Try pulling a monster from a separate rock/island...they'll swim straight across and nab you.

Hunting in the OOT is unlike most areas. There is no zoning, no guards, and not even a large open area to run away in. If you get a gang on you you're pretty screwed unless you can handle them all. Makes for an interesting time.

Can always swim back to Sister Isle and have the gnome throw you to BB or FP Smiley: smile

There are indeed sharks in the waters off Sister Island. Check the bestiary for their level. I don't think there are terribly many though.

If you're nervous about it, ask a magician to summon a couple levitation rings for you. Each one has 2 charges of levitate. A single charge will be more than ample for the quick run from Sister Island to the goblin island.

Only been to OOT twice to get spells for my magician. In theory couldn't you take the canoe to the island? Since the canoe will eventually disappear it makes sense to have a way back, but at least you don't have to swim in shark infested waters. Getting a nice mage to summon you a no-rent Ring of Flight would also be a quick way to get to the island without swimming as well. Just some thoughts...but I'm no expert.
