Odd anomoly in the BazaarFollow

#1 Apr 19 2004 at 6:09 PM Rating: Good
An odd thing keeps happening to me in Bazaar. Typically, I set up my trader, click start, click AFK and then leave the computer to go do something else. (Actually sitting and watching while your toon is in trader mode is, IMHO, tantamount to watching paint grow... or was that watching grass peel... well, never mind, I'm sure you all get the image...)

The bizarre thing, (pun intended), is that when I come back to check on sales, I usually find that one player had oggled my stuff and bought something but now, none of the remaining inventory is showing up in the bazaar search window. So effectively, although I am still *trader on*, no one can find me unless they happen to stroll up and right click ... and we all know that just isn't very likely to happen!

The way I discovered this is that someone had come up and bought a single item from a stack. I thought that was odd and then I noticed that the buyer was also a seller (he was standing in the same row, a few traders down.) So, I did a search of his name to see what he was selling and he had a lot of the same items I did. And I was no longer showing up in the search!

Does this guy know some secret way to lower the level of sales competition? Or does everyone but me know the trick?

Or, have I become hopelessly paranoid!

So what do I do? Has anyone else had this happen or am I just the luckiest cabbage?

Am I simply doomed to a life of *single sale* sessions?

HELP!!!

I've noticed this happening off and on with my trader as well. I'm not sure if it's related to folks browsing my gear or not. I suspect it's just a bug that occurs after you've been on awhile.

Same thing though. If I search by my tradername, I'll get a full list of the stuff I've got for sale. However, if I actually search by item name, or using the various search parameters, I won't see any of my stuff in the list(s).

When that happens, I just toggle trader off and back on. Fixes it every time (at least until it happens again). I'm also not positive if that's global, or just a bug in my bazaar searches not picking up my own goods. I've never asked to see if someone else can see my stuff.

I would be curious to see if anyone else has noticed this. It would explain some of the slow sales I've had lately...

OldBlue, you are NOT hopelessly paranoid.

We are out to get you. It was discussed at length in a separate forum that everyone on the web except you has access to.

As of the last patch, all EQ users except you have a special ability to track you, to see if you are in zone, and where, so they can come up with creative ways to mess you up.

SOE is offering prizes like a year of free play and a new car to someone who comes up with a really creative way of making your life miserable and still making it look like a bug.

The little game in the bazarre was just the first step, and those people who are 'saying' they have run into similar problems, he he he, well, they are in on it too.

See there... I knew it was something simple like that... I feel SOOOO much better now. Thanks, Merlinstone.

Oh and BTW - the SoW potions you bought from me in bazaar the other night... well they were actually spirit of exlax potions... produces an altogether different kind of runs... you're gonna love it!

I would like to verify Merlinstone's comments as being 100% accurate. The illuminati was actually founded for the very purpose of thwarting your bazaar sales.
P.S. NASA is watching you with the Hubble Space Telescope
