Ornate GuyFollow

#1 Apr 16 2004 at 5:41 AM Rating: Decent
I play in Bristlebane and got my ornate silk sleeve pattern. I hauled my little gnome butt over to the ornate guy in PoTran. and he wasn't there. I talked to another guy around the area and he said that he couldn't see or target him, but if you hailed around that area, the npc would do his speel. Anyone else no anything about the missing ornate guy?

dunno, but the merchants in PoT were screwed for me also....they were all milling around saying I'm too busy for that right now.

Did you happen to look on the roof for the fellow? For some reason, NPCs sometimes like to stand on rooftops, which is a bit inconvenient for the rest of us.

When things like this happen, /petition for a GM to get the NPC back in his or her rightful place.

I have a strong hunch it's a collision issue and the guy is in a wall or piece of furnature or something equally inconvenient. I've been casting Call of the Hero on players all over the place since Dx9 went live.

Sorry to say, but you're stuck having to petition. Smiley: frown

And we all now how wonderful and responsive the ample GM team is at SOE...or so I am told any time I say anything to the contrary. So you should petition and have GMs falling all over themselves to help you get this done.

Note: If they do not answer you, don;t complain on this board you will just be told how wrong you are about the level of the support...that it is great and you must be the only one who is having trouble getting GMs to help you. Smiley: lol

From various posts I've seen, it seems that the gms are fairly quick at answering this type of petition. Probably because the fix is quick and easy for them.

Hmmm, you're sounding a bit bitter there bud. Problems getting some customer service from SOE lately?

I used to be a big champion of the customer service and support from Verant/SOE, I even used to hang out in the general chat room for a bit each day defending the GM who was getting chewed out by any number of people. Up until the most recent patch, and SOE's handling of the issues it's caused, that is. Now I'm leaning more towards lhuffman's attitude.

Okay /rant offSmiley: smile. Have you tried standing where the NPC should be and using /target soandso then seeing if you can get him targetted? If you can then you can start looking for the ring and try to find him that way. That or grab a druid or ranger to track him for you.

OK, I ran into this same problem today. There actually was a Guide at the scene, and although he could not fix the problem himself, he said that the developers were aware of the problem, and were on top of it. He said that the npc was stuck in the floor, and since we cannot cast detrimental spells in PoT, he could not be pulled out by mortal means, heh. However, a short time later, I had a display glitch, where everything went red, and cubist looking. I logged off, shut down my comp and rebotted, then relogged. When I returned to PoT, the npc was still glitched. I was tracking him, when all of a suden, there he appeared right in front of the box where he is supposed to be, except he seemed to be pacing back and forth. (I have noticed wyverns in CS also doing the same thing, when they have usually been static spawns) I was able to do my turn in, but several other players there at the same time said that they could not see him. They were able to target him either through /target <npc name> or by assisting me as I had him targeted. I told one of the others that I had just relogged in, and he tried that too, but it didn't work for him. I know this is no help, but just wanted to tell you that the developers apparently are aware of this problem. Good luck, and I hope they get this fixed before I get my next ornate pattern.
