How much does it cost to get smithing 200+? Does anyone remember how much they have spent? I have baking at about 207, and I think I have made money most of the way. Do any of the other tradeskills pay for themselves?

Personally, I did my smithing from 200 to 250 for less than 100kpp. I did that by farming a LOT of Shadowscream armor components. You can conceivably do it for a lot less if you are willing to farm Shadowscream exclusively. However, I did a mix of Mistletoe Sickles, High Elf Cultural and Shadowscream with occasional PoP smithing and Tae Ew. Of course, I took advantage of Ethereal Sheet of Metal from 210 to 212.

I did sell back a lot of Sickles when they were still selling for a good price (1k to 2k range) so that helped off set the cost. The cultural really helped pay for it as well but rarity of Blue Diamond made this less desirable way to skill up. Other than that, the money you spend depends heavily on how much you are willing to farm.

Also, keep your STR buffed up while you smith, it increases your chance for success(INT and WIS should already be obvious).

It was my impression that whichever was highest (STR,WIS,INT) effected your sucsessful skillups. For Fletching its (DEX,WIS,INT) and for everything else it's just INT and WIS. Whether or not you sucseed is just based on your skill.

Each tradeskill seems to have a governing stat other than just WIS and INT for skill success. I know Tailoring is DEX related as well. Perhaps someone else could shed a little more light on this as I'm not certain which stas go with which skills other than Smithing and Tailoring. I'm pretty ceratin DEX is used again with Jewelcrafting.

INT is a part of all the skill-ups also, so don't count that stat out. Smiley: smile

You are absolutely right about that. The only stats, other than WIS or INT, used in 7 main tradeskills are: STR for Smithing and DEX for Fletching. I believe DEX is also used for Poison Making for Rogues. The RNG will take higher stat of two to determine the skill ups. I have personally confirmed this fact with developers at a Fan Faire that no other stats will help with other tradeskills. DEX does not effect JC or Tailoring skill ups.
