It's been a LONG time since I have played (the Shadows of Luclin was slated to come out about a month after I quit) and I have noticed some new stuff here. I have not yet loaded my machine with the game, as my internet connection is too slow to make it worthwhile, but I am moving soon and my connection speeds will be much better there.

What I want to know is how much has changed in 3 yrs? I have always been partial to Barbarian Shamans but some of what I have read seems to indicate that they may no longer be as good as they used to.

I know there are many new areas open, it will be fun to explore what I can of them as time and level permit, thats not a biggie, but what new armour, weapons, etc for a Barbarian Shaman are available? Have they added any worthwile quests or are they still running the same old lame weak begginer quests?

IMO, I have seen shamans grow in popularity over classes like clerics and enchanters. With the buff line of spells as well as haste/slows and heals, they are welcome in almost any group.

The recent additions that will matter most to you is probably Lost Dungeons of Norrath (LDoN) and Planes of Power (PoP). If you like the chance to try new races/classes, then Legacy of Yekesha (Spelling?) (LoK) and the latest Gates of Discord (GoD) are what you would want to check out.

There is lots of detail to go into with the games but I will give you a quick run down:

New race - new class
New areas
Dungeons and adventures created for your group only.
Knowledge Portals (teleporters that look like books and bring you to the Planes of Knowledge which is like the Nexus but can get to places much easier.)

That's the very basics of whats changed....others include trade skills and tribute systems and leadership XP.

If you plan on getting back into it, it shouldn't take you long to get back into the swing. I took almost 2 years off and when I came back, there were many changes that you eventually get used to. Almost a bit like starting the game over with higher level characters. :)

I'm sure others will post with more specific info but I'm at work and have limited time per post :)

Thanks Thorric, that helps some. Back when I played I often took great risks (like being a level 13 or so shammy on Spectre island giving sow and healing to higher level players on the island who were killing spectre's even though I got no XP from their hunts, it was just a blast to be there and chuckle about it all), As I am a risk taker then, I am sure when I get back into the swing of it i'll be doing very similiar things again.

That was a long time ago on Terris Thule, not sure if anyone there would remember that little Shamaness who was where she shouldn't have been, doing things she shouldn't have been doing at that level LOL. But I did have fun doing it. And I am sure will do it again just out of pure cussedness (unless they have REALLY nerfed the game and stopped lower level players from being in higher level groups).

I also recall some really fun Stein runs where invis dropped at the wrong time and I got pounded by ogres into a small puddle of goo before I could get the heck out of there.

well anyway, thanks again for the info and enough of my remeniscing.

no way. shamans r alwways wanted. they r awesome for those sweet buffs they have. and yes the game has changed a lot friend. so many new zones that i havent been able to explore myselft. like never been to a Loy zone at all and just some luclin and used to hang out in planes b4 ldon came out. but now pretty much everyone hangs out in a dungeon. also new ppl graphics, new clases, in general is a little easier to play and lvl with kei and temp/virute than the old days when u had to red the book at all times and such.
