I know this is going to sound like one of those 'Best drogmor for my halfling drood' questions, but I seem to recall a good explanation of the faction level by number. Can anyone supply me with the post or reasonable facsimile? Thanks.

I remember seeing this also a while back. Since no one has replied, I'll give you what my memory tells me you were looking for. I can't back these numbers up but this might be a reasonable facsimile:

KOS -2000 to -1000
Threatening -999 to -600
Dubious -599 to -200
Apprehensively -199 to -100
Indifferent -99 to +99
Amiable 100 to 599
Kindly 600 to 999
Ally 1000+

You don't miss anything hehe.. add in warmly and spread out the good side faction to compensate.

I looked but I can't find the original faction by hit-number anywhere :(

Yeah, I think you got the negatives correct, and the positives mirror those.

Something like:

KOS -2000 to -1000 (Scowls, Ready to Attack)
Threatening -999 to -600
Dubious -599 to -200
Apprehensively -199 to -100
Indifferent -99 to +99
Amiable 100 to 199
Kindly 200 to 599
Warmly 600 to 999
Ally 1000+

The main reason I was asking is I want to get my Ogre SK back in good with the Zek giants. I wanted to see or try to calculate where I would be with the Coldain once I got to non-KoS with the giants. So far I am back to Apprehensive with the dorfs and still Scowls (KoS) with the giants. I was amiable to the Coldain at one point. I do not remember what my original faction with the giants was, but my original Coldain was not worse than dubious.

I'm sure that to get the giant faction where I need it, I will become KoS to the dwarves at some point. Looks like I need to swat at least 500 more Coldain though....

Why do I want my Ogre SK to have giant faction?
1. Deity is Rallos Zek.
2. Thurgadin is too bloody cramped for normal business and Shrink is not easily achieved.
3. Giant [quested] armor is just as good if not better than the dwarf [quested] armor.

Anyone with suggestions on how best to raise giant faction, feel free to contribute. Strategy for now will be:
1. Get non KoS to Kromrif/Kromzek by killing Coldain.
2. Hand in coldain heads INSIDE Kael.

My SK is just now at level 34, so I can handle one at a time: Coldain Tracking Wolves and some Wolfmasters in GD. Hard to get a group up to kill these...

Looking at what you said, it makes sense that you wouldn't have that far to go now. You started at perhaps dubious to coldain, made it to amiable, and are now apprehensive. The sum total of all hits against Kromrif haven't been all that many. You are probably borderline kos-threatening now and simply have to traverse all of threatening, on of the smaller categories, and you are home free.

Good luck!

The Kael armour blanks drop in NToV and you need ally to giants to do the quest. Also to get to the quest guys you have to go past the Tormax giants, Tormax being the hardest giant faction to raise. But I've read of people using CoH to get to the quest guys. Or maybe you can get there right after someone has raided King Tormax hehe.

Anyway the bottom line is, to get this armour you will need to be part of a competent raiding guild.

I can never remember this one - are you KOS if something glares at you threateningly?

Threateningly usually means that if you hang about next to the mob they will get around to attacking but if you move fast enough you will get by.

Bluie beat me to the point Smiley: smile. Kael armour is the best of the 3 Velius quested armours but finding a guild willing to take down NToV nowadays might be hard. POP equipment is so superior that most people bypass Kael armor completely.

Also there is no necessary reciprocity to faction. You can get to KoS with all 3 velius factions without much effort. Building faction with the Giants you will lose dwarf much faster than you build giant. If anyone on your server raids the Dain try and get to tag along for the faction hit - it is massive. Also it includes KT faction.

However before you go all out for this at your relatively young level, make sure that the NToV parts will have some chance of becoming available. It would be a shame to ruin your Coldain comprehensively and then find you could not get the armor anyway.

Thanks.

At this stage my Ogre SK does not really care for Coldain faction. I have other toons who can actually do business inside Thurgadin if needed. From a pure RP aspect it would make more sense to have an Ogre SK (deity RZ) alligned with the Zek Giants. Honestly I hadn't thought of the organization required to get the Kael armor but I play on a server with several high-end raiding guilds so it may be possible. People still raid in Velious, yes?

I did manage to get to dubious with the Coldain but I'm still scowls ready to attack with the frost giants. I will most likely be well into KoS with the dwarves whenever I get to dubious with the giants.

From a 'quest' perspective, this will take a while. But then again I did manage to get my Iksar Monk non-KoS to Qeynos and Freeport. Nothing like being able to walk un-molested (from guards) from Blackburrow to East Freeport.
