Dual Wield?Follow

#1 Apr 07 2004 at 4:14 AM Rating: Decent
Just a quick (and probably obvious) question:
Just got my Ogre Warrior to level 13, popped a point into dual wield but dont seem to be attacking with both weapons.
(This is the obvious bit) I take it I have to wait til level 15 to activate Double Attack before I can use both?
Just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.

Remember there are no stupid questions, just stupid people!!

Thanks!!

There's a difference between dual wield and double attack:

dual wield allows you to strike with your secondary weapon while double attack allows you to strike twice within the delay time of each elegible weapon - which means that with both skills you have the chance to strike 4 times (within the delay times of both weapons seperatly)

The check thats taken IF you strike with your secondary weapon or if you strike twice is based upon your current dual wield/double attack skill and since both work up very slow you could invest any training points you saved so far into these skills wheeras dual wielding is the better bargain maybe at the early levels.

Usually poeple give a weapon with the smallest delay time they can find (and neglect damage)as secondary to have the skill work up faster. If you can find a heavy stat-adding weapon with a delay under 20 this would probably the best deal.

Of course the chances to hit dual/double are still based on offense and weapon skill so its not an easy decision if you take the same skill-based weapon in your secondary slot or another one you want to skill up - but at early levels a different weapon skill is probably unadvisable.

If you want to see the "proc" of these two skills check your filter setting - most people set these to filter everything out but their hits and opponents hits so you would not see the missed dual or double strikes.

A key point to watch for is if you are getting Skill rises in Dual Wield. If you are then it is working, just not very effectively.
