Can anybody help explain to me how different poison DOT's on the same mob works? I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer!!!! I would also like an explaination of the poison counter that spells talk about.

Thanks!

Really cannot help with the poison counter thing as I really do not pay that much attention to all those numbers....except I believe it has something to do with resists....but prolly wrong on that. I do however know that on my Shaman I can stack several poison and disease dot's on a MOB at the same time as long as I use different level versions of the afforementioned dot's.

If a poison dot adds 10 counters, you have to remove those 10 counters before the spell will be removed. Each cure type spell removes a certain amount of counters. Generally, the higher level the cure spell, the more counters it will remove. I.E. If a spell puts 50 counters on you and you're curing it with a spell that removes 10 counters, it will take 5 casts to remove it. The only exception to this is the bard cure lines (aria of ascetiscism for poison/disease and aria of innocence for curse). The removal effectiveness (number of counters removed) goes up depending on the modifier on the instrument they are using. As for stacking, generally, spells from a single line will not stack. If you have a level 16 poison dot and get the upgrade at level 24, casting the level 16 one then the 24 one will tell you that your level 16 one has worn off. BUT, 2 of the same spells cast by the same class of the same level WILL stack. A little confusing, but with a little communication with your group mates before a fight, you should be able to work out who's casting what and see what's stacking according to your wear off messages.

LOL....figured I was wrong on the counters thing...thanks for clearing that up. I must however admit confusion on your comment on dot stacking. I routinely stack EB and Bane with my Shaman and often add the disease line and get reports of dot damage from them all for their full duration. Perhaps I am mis-reading the info I am getting.

This is no longer true. For example, in the druid magic-based dot line, they all stack. Lvl 53 winged death stacks with lvl 44 drifting death, lvl 34 drones of doom, etc. It used to be that these spells would overwrite each other (higher lvl for lower) but that was changed a while ago.

Ahh, thanks for correcting me. I haven't played my necro in quite a while. I had heard that stacking changes were made but didn't realize that single line stacking was part of it. At least I got the counters part right. :)
