Paineel Bug?Follow

I started my first Erudite character today, but I can't seem to get out of the city of Paineel (I've never been there with any other character either).

I started with a key, a found a lift that it works on, but when I activate the lift, the floor just rises through me, leaving me in the hole where the lift used to be.

About 10 seconds later, the lift comes down and I'm standing on it again.

Tried this about 15 times, standing in different positions, but with the same results.

Should I be running somewhere as soon as I activate it, or is this a bug? I thought I'd check with y'all , to see if I was missing something really obvious, before I submitted a report of some kind.

Help me out, you evil Erudites! (please and thank you)

This is a bug and I for one have reported it - hopefully others will do too.

The work-around is as soon as you click on the stone with your key, start moving around inside the lift. This seems to remind the lift to take you with it. You need to do this for both going up and down - seems to work 3 times out of 4 for me.

Works the same way in Kelethin - you have to move once you step on the lift otherwise you stay either at the ground or in mid-air....

Yesterday in Kelethen, one of the lifts wouldn't come down at all. The other one would take you up but when you wanted to come down, it would leave you dangling in midair then you would fall to the ground. Didn't try the third one. Right now, I cannot get into the game after it crashed last night. I am sure they will get all of this worked out.

Bugged it on my end!

Was running back from LoY the other night and realized I never sold off in Gunthak. So I popped down into Paineel, sold, banked and logged. Imagine my suprise when I logged in the next day and found myself trapped in the elevator shaft. Luckily, I was able to beat the bejeezus out of that dark elf (Jerith?) with my OT hammer until it proc'd and Gate out that way. Would have hated to wait for a GM summon.

This sounds like a similar problem to the one I've had with the rocket-propelled boat to Abysmal Sea.

Three times my two characters got onto the boat only to have it disappear from under their feet leaving them in the water with a long swim to shore.

In the end I was lucky enough to have a GM come along and try it and sure enough after giving me milk and magic cookies she got on the boat and it shot off without her.

She went to AS and summoned us which was very nice of her.

Once we'ed done all the tradeskilling we could stand (those quests are free but Oh so tedious). We had to get out again. This time we had the same problem and the boat disappeared into the distance. Determined to make it work I tried again and perhaps it was this movement thing but one character actually went off on the boat and left the other hovering at the dock (I'd figured out levi was a good idea by now).

Unfortunately I'd taken the boat to Natimbi but I thought I'd be ok at the dock.

However after zoning I was left in mid-air while the boat shot off. My image on zoning was of the boat in the distance. Luckily I still had SoW and Levi and ran for it. I loaded "/say Nedaria" on the run and when a big crab jumped me hitting for 160 a time I was almost to the Magus. With only 480 hp I was lucky it only hit me twice before I got ported.

The new collision detection seems to be a total nightmare. It detects collisions where none exist and fails to connect you to things that you should be connected to - like lifts and boats.

Worse it bounces you back from things. I used to be able to run up the cliff in Emerald Jungle fairly easily in the right place. Now I get bounced backwards if I hit a steep bit and it can be almost impossible.

Where you used to be able to put on autorun and leave the character running you now find you have stuck to the first tree you got even vaguely close to.

I ran into this also in Paineel, there is an easy fix for it. ( though Sony should fix it). As soon as you click the stone and the floor starts to rise quickly hit your jump key. You will jump into the air and the lift will take you with it.

Its bad enough the newbie area sucks, its worse when you cant get out of the newbie city.
