problems with eqtoolbox-mapsFollow

#1 Apr 05 2004 at 2:11 AM Rating: Good
I downloaded, unzipped and copied the SOE version of the maps of Shar Val and Shadeweavers Thicket into the map directory but it didn't work.

By the looks of the files in the editor they seem to have exactly the same format as the "official" ones as do the filenames so what am i doing wrong still.

Whats funny is that in the toolbar the map icon isn't even clickable 8/

Do you have the Legacy of Ykesha expansion? It is required for maps other than the standard city zones provided. I think you can buy and download this expansion somewhere during the EQ login process. You get new zones in the 30-60 range, and frogs as a playable race too.

Thanks a lot, Pat - I knew I couldn't use the map tools but had no idea that Ykesha was also necessary to use imported maps :(

To be honest, the expansion is worthwhile for the map feature alone. I used to have piles and piles of printed out maps. I use the map feature, all the time, every play session. Some might say it takes the fun out of exploration, but to me it is invaluable part of the game now.

I agree. I don't have fun wandering around, and getting lost in places and they try to find my corpse again. I'd much rather get there, set up and start killing and know where I am, should I get killed.

One problem I'm finding with those same maps is that recently they just seem to be wrong. I'll open the maps to see where I'm at and it'll say that I'm somewhere that's not even on the map. The problem is REALLY bad in guk, and pretty bad in Crystal caverns... It could be I just need to update them, but I wouldn't think that the physical walls would have moved with the patches.

You might be on the wrong level. Many (most?) dungeons have at least two levels, some have more.

Yeah, I checked that too, height filter on, height filter off. Larger boundries ont he filter, smaller boundries. Still says I'm running around outside the walls of the dungeon when I know exactly where I should be on the map. Strange...
