Login problems, and aol/eqFollow

I am currently having problems logging into the game and was wondering if I could get some advice.

I played for a few hours last night with no problems. Then this morning I logged on and played for about a half hour, but my screen was flashing a bit so, thinking I might just need to log to clear out some bugs, I logged, and restarted my computer. Now, I am unable to log back on, keep getting Error 1001 message, "Can't login to server, try again shortly." I read on here that they were having issues with this earlier today, but when I went to the eq website, it said everything was okely dokely. Also I run EQ with aol as my isp. I know it sucks, but my only choice at the moment. My questions:

1) Is my difficulty logging on probably more to do with aol (hard to believe because I played trouble free last night), or with eq having issues?

2) What, if any, adjustments to my computer should I make when using aol to play eq in order to maximize efficiency?

I myself play with AOL. It works great. The only online game I have ever played that works well with AOL. Its not AOL that is the problem. Make sure you have a fairly new version of AOL I run 9.0. I had something like 5.0 and some zones would crash you as you entered. The fix is to have the latest version. Dont ask me why.
