Does anybody know how long the skeleton invasion will last? I thought they would only be there for 2 weeks but it has been longuer than that already.
As far as I can tell the drops from the commanders are the same regardless of the zone, is that correct?

I have a broader but related question: does anyone have a link for all the things that are going on for the 5th Anniversary? As usual, the SoE site metions it but is devoid of any real content.

The three things that I am aware of are:
The Fabled named mobs (upgraded versions of the original named mobs) that appear in various old world zones. They drop Fabled gear, which are upgraded versions of gear that their non-fabled versions drop (or used to drop, in the case of some mobs like Drelzna/Fabled Drelzna).
Then you have the 5th anniversary scavenger hunt which results in a cool fireworks clicky staff that is fun at parties.
And you have the skeleton armies, which are mostly a nuisance (depending on your level) except for this guy who drops some nice no-drop gear for various slots. These guys don't stay in the realm of the unliving for long.
There may also be random GM events, but I've only seen one (a giant-sized dwarf with a pet basilisk named Fluffy in butcherblock) and as far as I know he only handed out food and booze. It was neat seeing this huge dwarf stomping around tho.
There might be other stuff, but I've not heard anything about it.

From the updates here on Alla's, it seems as if the lower level skeletons might drop stuff, but if they do it's got to be pretty rare since I haven't seen anything from them. That stuff might be zone dependant, but the Commander loot seems to be universal. At least, I've looted the same items in Steamfonts and the Feerott and heard /oocs for the drop rotting in the other zones.

To answer this portion of your question, it is not specifically known when SoE will remove the 5th anniversary mobs/events. However, it would probably be safe to bet on April 15th which is also the last date for the free month on the re-activated accounts. This may be incorrect, but as far as guesses go... :P
Then again, who knows? I figured Kithicor Forest (Deathicor) would be returned to normal after Halloween '99, but my sub 35's still get beat down there on occasion 4+ years later when running through solo and visible.
