It's hard to identify a single "favorite" old world zone. The game was much slower paced back then, so you really got to spend a lot of time in many different zones (instead of just a few while blazing a trail through the levels).
The first time I ever grouped was with a friend in Butcherblock. We mostly whacked random goblins and such. Eventually, we moved on to the chessboard (which was just *amazing* back then).
My first "dungeon" was Crushbone. I think I went there at like level 8 or so. First time I had to deal with trains (and D'vinn at the zoneline!). Good times. Played around there off and on for many levels.
I spent a good amount of time and levels alternating across the continent and either hunting in Befallen, Blackburrow, or Splitpaw. I remember when the place was taken over by a new (tougher) batch of gnolls, so it was no longer a good place for a group of teen/twenties to hunt. Hunting in KFC groups and running into lake rathe at night was also a good place during that time period.
Then came unrest. My god what a fun zone! I grouped up there pretty exclusively from about 22nd level to 28th level. After that, it was Paw and CT. Paw wasn't that trilling to me to be honest, but CT was awesome! For a low 30s group, that place rocked back then. Doing the sewers and fighting the golem guy down there for the first time (pulling through the water. wow!). Fighting in those rooms with the bridge thingies in them (don't remember the name of the camp anymore). Taking pyrimid, or 4c (that was a great camp). Camping AoF... What more can I say. This zone was great. It was almost a let down when I leveled up to 35 and couldn't get good exp there anymore.
Those were my early days, and I enjoyed pretty much all of those zones. I never really hunted in SolA or B back then, and I somehow completely missed Guk (go figure). I came back to those many times (and with various alts), but I never went through them with my main back then, so they don't hold the same feelings for me.
Good times.
