First there was the skypatch - and everyone had odd problems. So I dunno if it's my problem or EQ's problem...
Anyway I have an odd problem. My computer seems to run EQ just fine - on 512M RAM. If I pop in another stick of RAM (and yes my motherboard can do it just fine, processor is happy, Nvidia GForce 5200 vid card is spiffy too....), then suddenly I play EQ for like 10 minutes and poof:
Everquest has detected that your client may have crashed....
Everything will be FINE, then poof - I'm sitting at a window asking if I want to send the data of my client crash to EQ. Yeahsurefine. Crashes me out of Everquest with all the force of it I'd just hit /exit. What's even stranger, I never appear to go LD to anyone else - I'm there...and then I'm not (and can log back onto the server immediately after the crash with none of the usual 1018 errors).
I went through every software thing I could (down to a full teardown and restore of WinXP Pro, all drivers, dx9, etc) and still had the problem.
I took out the extra stick of RAM (back down to 512 from 1G) and suddenly everything is fine again.
My system operates *beautifully* with that extra stick of RAM when I'm *not* playing EQ...so I'm reluctant to believe there is something wrong with the memory card.
Any ideas?
