This Is A Copy From The Faq Section At The Eq Web Site My Statmet Is What Happen Since 2000 When The Was Put On The Site.

1.25 Are you trying to create a "realistic" world for EverQuest? That is, are you attempting to create a living, breathing world "simulation" where non-player characters have their own daily schedules, the world has its own interactive "ecology" and there is an overall dynamic "economy"?
Yes, but only where it really adds to gameplay. EverQuest is not an experiment or a simulation, and our focus is on making the game world fun. Our emphasis is on adventure and exploration, and making sure the game mechanics are fair and enjoyable. Game balance definitely takes precedence over any attempt at creating a super realistic virtual world.

Can you belive this or are you like me and think the Faq page should have a Major update

Before EQ went live, in a PC game mag, they said EQ's different zones would have temerature based effects on a character(Ex. A character would have to dress warmly in a zone like Everfrost or would constantly be taking cold damage). They also said the A.I.(artificial Intelligence(relating to creature's behaviors)) would be such that if you were fighting a creature and another came along and saw the fight, it would watch to decide if it thought it could beat you and would either walk away when it realized you were too tough or attack. Another statement on A.I. was that if a Giant saw you, it would act as if it hadn't and walk out of view and then sneak around to attack you unexpectedly. They also said you would be able to Own or Rent buildings in the game.

Um, now it's 5 years later and these things were still never implemeted...... I believe this was in "Computer Games" magazine, obviously around 1998ish. I had been following the EQ messageboards for about a YEAR before EQ came out after reading all that cool stuff.

Some creatures do this. I notice this behavior from the big cat type mobs. They will run past you, then double back and attack.
