If you go to everquestlive and check the forums you should be able to find the threads for this problem pretty easy. It was 9 pages long the day after the patch. Almost all ATI cards were having problems. I'm using a 7500 myself. The fix to get past the "no 3d device detected" part was to make sure you use the ATI uninstaller to remove ALL ati software from your system. Then try the new drivers again. If that doesn't work, you need to install OLD drivers, because it was found that some of the new "recommended" drivers didn't work as intended, particularly the ME drivers for 7500's and the XP drivers for 9500's I believe. Then, in case you don't know how to do this, hit START>RUN and type dxdiag.exe. Click on the display tab. It SHOULD say "no problems detected" in the little window below. If it says "This device doesn't support d3d blah blah blah" that driver still won't work. Try an older one. After all that, you should be able to get in. If you run into a major framerate problem in certain zones (mostly outdoor ones post kunark, especially PoTranquility) then you have to add a line or two to your eqclient.ini file. I zoned into tranquility and was down to 1 frame per 30 SECONDS! If you have this problem, go into your Everquest folder and into your eqclient.ini and at the end of the "defaults" section add "HardwareTnL=FALSE" and on the next line "VertexShaders=FALSE" (or Vertexshading=FALSE, can't remember which), both without the quotation marks. Hit save and exit out. Start EQ and you should be golden. Hope this helps and good luck.
