Autosplit off please...Follow

Is it too hard to turn it off. I was in a group the other day with my monk and 2 of my group members would not turn it off. I asked them nicely several times and got no no response from them. Finally when I did get a response from them it was " can't you just destroy the extra money, I am not looting, I want my fair share". I didn't say anything, I just destroyed the extra. Even after I told them that they were losing money that I was deleting, they said nothing... Needless to say I logged on my warrior soon after...and got another AA. Guess it was not too bad of a night. :)

Obviously you ran into someone who does not understand how autosplit works since they thought they were getting their "fair share."

Out of respect for the class, they should have turned it off.

However, I have been in several groups (unfortunately) where the ML ran away with the loot.

Sadly, depending on how much you are pulling in, you may want to have it on. Unless you know you can trust the ML. *shrug*

Didn't there used to be WR coin purses drop somewhere?

I vaguely remember this from posts a long time ago.

In a non-dungeon pick up group where there is cash dropping, I tend to want my share. If you are worried about the weight, do a /split with the cash you accumulate and destroy the rest. I know auto-split isn't a fair share, but it's something. On a lower level toon going through a cash drop zone, I won't group with a person who won't turn it on.

Well, when a 36 paladin is weilding a windblade..I doubt they would care about the 7 copper that drops....

I have always found that I make far more money soloing than I ever do in groups. I agree with JamesGTI on turning off split. Let the non-soloable classes pick up all the cash drops to make up for their inability to get it on their own. I can't remember the last time I grouped in a place with decent cash loot anyway.

I still roll for equipment/good gem drops but the cash and small gems I just let go.

As with many variables with Adventures, I don't have a hard and fast preference so long as it's agreed before starting the Addy. Anyone else got a LDoN checklist they go through before committing the group to the adventure?

A few ideas:
  • Roles (MT/MA/MH etc)- sounds obvious but on pick-up groups I often see people keen to wade into the dungeon before this is agreed
  • Agreement on the 'No touchy touchy crates' rule
  • Agree on who's ML (and whether we have autosplit on or off)
  • No Drop Rules ("Need before Greed" or "Free for All")
  • Rezzes (As soon as toon dies, or at next natural break or end of Adventure)
  • Reminder to tanks about mana Smiley: wink
  • Last one to die is a sissy

    Frizznik's Endless Coin Purse
    LORE ITEM NO DROP
    Weight reduction: 90%
    Weight: 0.1
    Number of slots: 10

    Very Large Coin Purse
    Weight reduction: 70%
    Weight: 0.1
    Number of slots: 8

    Medium Coin Purse
    Weight reduction: 40%
    Weight: 0.1
    Number of slots: 4

There's a couple other coin weight reducers but these are the best. The Very Large Coin Purse goes for 17.5k according to alla.

I agree 100% that autosplit should be off if you have a ML - heck my chanter can get encumbered real quick if I havent banked money from last adventure as well.

I became the 2nd ML the other night after first filled up and forgot I had autosplit on - had 2 tells and 2 /g says to turn it off LOL after first corpse.

As far as getting stiffed by the ML running off; I can only remember that happening the first week when ML went LD just before LDON finished and never logged back in. I have well over 200 LDONs between my characters and while I often play with at least one person I know, I do a lot of LDONs with pick ups groups that are new to me. Guess I have just been lucky or you have had bad experiences.

Anyway common sense to use ML, if you dont trust your group members fairly loot you should look elsewhere and autosplit is really unfair to rest (rounding goes to looter and you never come close to a fair split).

As I've said before, I'm often main looter in my groups and auto split is always off. The only time people ever lose out on my splits are ones who leave before it happens, after I've reminded them to wait for it. They usually say "nah, I don't need the cash."

When I haven't been the looter, I've never had someone bolt with any of my group's loots. I hope that's more indicative of behavior of the majority of players than a simple matter of luck.

Heh. Um... That's why you should always have a main slot free. That way you can at least carry that thing back to a bank, and then make a decision about what to do with it.

As I started on MR when it went online (6 weeks ago?) from scratch I should have been worried about money but I wasn't.

Even at low lvl I never cared to loot money or having someone put autosplit on while in a group. Now (main 23rd)I do LDoN and small groups in OOM still for XP only.

If I need money I spend an hour tradeskilling (and that works for tailoring and blacksmithing even below 200)or even better play stockmarket exchange at the Bazaar =)

Maybe I loose some plat that way but I have learned that I can concentrate on my job better if I ban the money-issue completely from my mind, especially when doing non-LDoN groups.

And I am anyway sitting on 10k at the moment which no idea what to spend on except for gargoyle granite and sand verbana :)

auto split off? depends if its ldon or normal zone. in ldon i prefer auto split off. i've done about 90 adventures so far and i've been unlucky enough to get robbed by the ML. Not much you can do about that, except avoid those toons in the future.

but for normal zones, i prefer auto-split on, especially if i don't know those toons i'm playing with. at least i still get something even if its only 7 copper. better than nothing.

In evey LDoN advanture I have done, the group has wanted split off and do a split at the end. In normal XP groups, they normally want it left on. In LDoN, I have had a ML bolt on the group once, not only with the split, but with the named drop, an architect's bejeweled chestplate. The group was very angry about that. I think the best srategy if you are ML is to ask what the group prefers and go with it.

Every time i hear the story of a ML betraying everybody I ask myself:

"How come that someone gets to be ML that (obviously) NO ONE in the whole group knew?"

Seriously - As a group leader before I let some strager be ML just because his class "fits to be ML" I rather let it do ANYONE I know at least a bit including the main healer - and **** the "clerics should sit on their *** and med"-rule for once....
