A brief forum questionnaire
I’m just curious, and would like to see where people stand on the following issues. To get the largest sample, this will be posted on several of the forums here. Please only answer this once.
1. As a premium member, one of the services you pay for is the ability to display an Avatar icon with each of your posts. While this is nice, it does tend to be a problem when at work. Would you be bothered if there was a specific “work friendly” forum layout that would allow people to disable avatar viewing? They would show up in the other views, just not that one work friendly forum. Please explain your position either way.
2. If such an avatar toggle feature were a premium only feature, would that increase the likelihood of you purchasing a premium membership?
3. Please rank the following in terms of importance to you: A work friendly stylesheet, Private messaging, Increased game coverage, new non-forum site features.
4. Keeping in mind that the search feature is on hold until the new servers arrive, is there anything else you would like to see that would increase your likeliness to purchase a premium membership? (premium memberships pay for new servers, which = faster forum…)

Private messaging would be excellent. I don't care about avatars either way. I'm already a premium contributor.

Didn't Alla say the servers shipped, like, two months ago? Did the distributor set them by the side of the road and is waiting for them to walk here on their own power?

avatars are not really something i even care about. if you are doing something with your current coding that is making them be blocked by some firwalls, then you should rethink what you are doing in the first place. they are being blocked for a reason.

like the site as it has a lot of very powerful tools, but with all the spyware and other junk running in the background of this site i tend to avoid it for those reasons. i come to the forums as i can discuss things, when they are up and running properly, and my hosts file will catch most of your spyware and drop them from coming to my system. the downside is that effects the already slow performance of your site.
i know with your 'premium' service no more popups, but if you were to also remove 100% of the spyware junk that runs on this site, i might consider paying for that service, but as it stands now, nope no way not going to do it.
1. The swinging wolf ******** avatar is the only one I'm currently worried about at work (aside from the fact that it's hypnotically disturbing.) It's not a do or die issue, but I'd disable avatars when I'm at work if I could.

1) i wouldnt mind at all, as long as i could see the avatars if i wanted to

They are apperently three of those new apple G5 dual processor servers that got delayed on release worldwide for two months for unspecified technical reasons. They are apperently shipping now, or about to ship.

watch what loads in the background if you are running a real browser that shows you. gorillanation and doubleclick are the 2 that come to mind right off the bat.
thankfully my hosts file catches and blocks them, but it is sites like this and the thousands of others that alow those companies (bonzi is an other) to run in the background that have forced me to have to resort to hardcoding my hosts file to prevent their intrustion into my privacy.
G5s, nice are you saying this site runs Apache in OSx? or do you blow the OS away and install a *nix OS to run Apache?

1. The ability to display an Avatar icon is certainly not the reason that I purchased my premium service. Game content is the reason I continue to use the site, not the cute avatars. My position on a work friendly forum without avatars? It would make no impact on my decision to pay for the service.

A. Would like to see the Wish List capabilites enhanced. Currently it only prints armor. Would like to enter the items/components that I am searching for and where they drop. An "Eq To Do List" by character would be a HUGE asset in "managing" my characters, imho.
B. Would like to see the Wish List, Effects, Focus Effects and Inventory print on the Profile in the same way it does on the Character Sheet.
C. Would like to have an extensive searchable glossery that would include abbreviations. (If there is one here, I just haven't found it yet)
D. On the Search capability, would like to "Exclude" GM items. Would like to search weapons by Delay and/or damage.
