Spider SilkFollow

I recently saw a post about the market for Swirling Mists collapsing. There is apparently a new smithing path introduced with Gates of Discord and Swirling Mists are no longer necessary.

I have noticed lately the there is no longer a market for Spider Silk. I am on the Stromm server. Until recently Spider Silk would sell for 5pp to 10pp easily. Last night there were at least 30 traders in the Bazaar selling silk. The average asking price was about 4pp and it certainly appears that it isn't selling.

Anyone know what happened to the Spider Silk market? Has it only collapsed on Stromm? Any suggestions on other ways to bring in plat?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Im on Xegony and i spend all my time colecting spiderling silk and leveling. i have been a seller of "SS" for longer than i can remember and i sell it for about 5-7pp each. i can always find a needy little player that needs a few spiderling silk. i can make more than 100pp a stack. good money for a lvl 18 necro.

Did those 30 traders by chance have less than a stack each? If that's the case I can understand why there's a bunch of them with silk. Trade skillers don't want to have to go to 20 different merchants to purchase between 3 and 10 silk each. It's much easier to just got to one person and grab 5 stacks instead.

i found competition for silks was quite intense on my server, so i combine 2 silks to make a swatch.
doubled the price of 1 silk, i.e., 10p silk = 20p swatch.
sold stacks in no time.

The supply/demand of economics come into play here. If demand is high, then the price of silks shoot up... Then everyone who needs some plat heads to EK and kills spiders in mass. At some point there are far more silks then needed (and/or there is a lull in tailoring), the price would obviously drop. Lately, there has been so much to check out like the 5th anivsersary events, Fabled mobs, and GoD zones... So, I am guessing there is a bit of a lull in tradeskilling.

I do what Hardaar does, I combine the silks into swatches while medding or waiting for a group. These seem to sell much faster than silks.
