it's a macro program for everquest that can be used to automate complex series of actions . using it unattended is considered against the EULA and can result in banning of your account . attended use has been debated here and elsewhere but i don't know if sony has stated a position on it or not .

Using MacroQuest at all, not just unattended, is a violation of the End User License Agreement and WILL get you suspended if not completely banned from the game.

I would stay away from it if you want to keep your characters, you know the ones you've spent all your free time working on for the last few years...

In addition you have to know how to program in C++, or at least be able to compile the software as it is not provided in an executable format.

SOE has a very clearly stated position on it. It violates the EULA. People have been banned for it. You will lose your toons if you are caught. They wont even ask questions. Just don't chance it it is not worth it.

I love the fact that this is included in the end of your quote of the EULA:

Quote:

We see how well that works :)

However, those that say you can and will be banned for macroing are correct. It's a lot easier for Sony to track down those using third party software to automate anything. Wisest thing would be to just stay away from it.

I know nothing of programing so guess it is out. I still am not sure what it is or really does. Saying that I have no use for it, just curious because on the board I read they were in a heated arguement about it. I couldn't get a full grasp of the conversation since I didn't know what it was.

what it does is watch the RAM that Everquest uses to store its data. It is able to directly change values in order to effect things that the Everquest client does. Some things are controled on your local computer, like run speed, tracking, zone information and other stuff. Some stuff is controlled on the server like XP, PP, level and that sort of stuff. Things that are controlled on the client can be manipulated in ways not intended by the programmers (i.e. cheating). It also allows you to program complex events to happen over and over again (i.e. tradeskill combines) GMs have ways of monitoring this sort of thing, also if someone sees you using the forge for 9 hours in POK they are likely to report you. GMs are not very tolerant of cheating and will quickly ban your account causing you to lose everything.

Thanks for the clear understanding.

I have a 13 year old and every gaming system we have he has cheat codes for. I never quite understood it but when we came to Everquest the first thing I said was....

Finally a game you can't get a cheat code for.

Guess I was wrong. Glad I know about it, in case it comes up in our home.
