berzker crits or not to critFollow

#1 Mar 19 2004 at 5:59 PM Rating: Default
I know there has been a very large debate on both berzker boards regarding berzkers should crit... Before people flame me to death which this is entirely my own oppion and mine alone..

To be honest the frenzy trippling and quadding with a successfull double is massive amount of damage in 1 shot.. Granted alot of people look at parsing logs and state that berzkers are pretty much at the bottom of the list in damage output... Granted i feel that the eye candy syndrome that people would like to see is the crits... But have you done your math on a successfull double attack with double, tripple and quad frrenzy's lately... let me just use this an examble and it seems to be the average for my lvl 48 berzerker on the high side which doesnt happen often

Windblade i am hitting an average of 160
Frenzy seems to average about 60

Even if you only single attack for 220 dmg that seems ok at lvl 48 with a single slash and a single hit frenzy..

now with a double attack and single frenzy ( which occurs most often ) 380 dmg

with a double attack and a double frenzy 440 dmg( equivlent to a caster nuke in mid lvls)

double attack and tripple frenzy 500 dmg

Double attack quad frenzy 560 dmg

Now i know those aren't really consistant and frenzy is very inconsistent of dmg because sometimes i will triple frenzy it will be like 60 30 2 for dmg granted alot of people want critcals for berzerkers and more eye candy but to me i feel that 1 high burst dmg that we can do is eye candy granted with aa abilites is were we get crits i guess people just want more eye candy or to lower the time length frenzy... But for out of box release of the berzerker class i feel that it could use some fine tunning like add stats to our axes but for burst dps could it be more with berzerker i think it could use a little more fine tunning to make dmg of frenzy a little more consistent but i am kinnda happy with the class but im also comparing it to what a class was like 5 yrs ago was like. I feel that all this twink gear making a lvl 48 berzerker with 2128 hp and 1k ac(and im sure some berzkers have better equip than i do) is kinnda extreeme ( but its not extreme of today's eq) Im still comparing it to when there wasn't any expansions an cap was lvl 50 but not necassarily wearing old world gear...

I'm ready for the flammage and will take anything with a gain of salt because any class can use for improvement

Not going to flame you, I just wish kick was on a different timer than frenzy Smiley: smile

Otherwise I'm ok without the crits and agree with much of what you said

Everywhere in the world, English teachers are weeping over that post. Um... Thesis statement please?

I just want to make sure I'm reading this correctly. You are saying that crits are *not* needed for the beserker class, right? You kinda say a lot of stuff in there, but never actually stated the position you were arguing (hence my statement above).

Assuming that's the case, I kinda have to agree. I don't know about parsings for the beserker class (I don't play one, and haven't gone looking for data on them). However, my understanding is that the class is supposed to have a competitive dps rate. It's not supposed to be a "tank", but is designed to be a damage dealer in a group (someone you could drop in place of a ranger or rogue for instance). If parses are showing them to have lower dps then other classes, that may be a bad thing. Then again, I always questions lots of people's parses when they have an obvious agenda (make my pet class more powerful!).

That said, crits are "eye candy". They don't significantly add to overall DPS. If there really is a dps problem with zerkers, there are other ways to fix that. Crits are not needed. They can get them with AAs just like everyone else.

Heh. My roomate is a humanities professor. I get to hear her ***** and moan about the horrible quality of papers that get presented and the trend for students to avoid actually stating the position they are arguing. I guess it just rubs off a bit... ;)

I do tend to agree with all the points you made though. Innate crits are not needed for that class. They've got enough juicy things going for them already...
