New free trial not working?Follow

#1 Mar 17 2004 at 4:30 AM Rating: Decent
Well, my friend recently told me that EQ was offering a one month free trial to old accounts, and he desperately wants me to start playing again, so I re-installed and tried to log in. I get some stupid message about my "PC Action subscription" being up. What does that mean? I get the options "now" or "Later"...as if the free trial does not even exist.

Argh!!! I've emailed accounts@soe.sony.com about this, but I doubt they'll do anything.

Like a lot of "free" trials they use inertia selling. They require your credit card details. You then get your free period but if you fail to cancel they start taking money after that.

I suppose it acts a sort of deterrent to people who have not the means nor intention of subscribing.

Well...I don't think that's how it works. Because, they already have my CC information, since the acct is already there, and they said "innactive" accounts. I dunno...just doens't seem like that sort of deal.

I would like some insight on this too.

could i just re do my subscription and cancel it right away and get a free month and the acnt would go away again after the month?

I am hoping for a reply in like 30 mins of less so i can try it .. hehe

Sorry I missed the thing about "old accounts". My mistake.

There was an email several months back with either a link or a code for re-activating old accounts but I didn't know it was still running.

Sorry I can't help you.

I got the email too, but I haven't tried to log in.

They have reactivated "old" accounts for EQ's 5th anniversary. The accounts have a 30 day free period on them, which I was shocked at. Before they've given a free week, and that's it.

To the OP, I don't know why you're getting that message. I have gone back to EQ when they've offered the free activations before, but like I said, haven't tried it this time.

Did you download your game online originally? Or did you buy the disks? The PC Action thing sounds like it was an online download.

Im getting a message like that too on one of my old accounts.

The last thing I remember doing with that account is using one of the free month emails.. but now that SOE is reactivating all old accounts "in good standing" I figured I would check this old one, and maybe let a friend play, but no..

Oh well..

Well, the last 2 times I went back to EQ, it was because of an email like this and I was able to log in. So I doubt this is a scam.

I'm at work now, but I'll try and see if my account is active when I get home.
